Cons: Blade Sharpness

Powerful slicer and chopper

As the description says, this is similar to a common style of sheepsfoot folding knife (eg QSP Penguin), but in a fixed blade. I specifically bought it because I break down a lot of gnarly boxes and zip ties, too strong for a disposable utility knife or a locking folder. The Basic-2 is excellent for this use case: the Bohler D2 is a good working steel, and the weight of the knife really makes those heavy slices safe and easy to control. I'll emphasize that this really is quite good D2, it definitely holds an edge against tough work, and I didn't spend too long getting it nice and sharp. The sheath and Micarta aren't outstanding but they are appropriate for a knife of this price. I don't use this for food prep, but it would be a good chopper in a large kitchen. I docked a star for the price. It's a good knife, but it could have been sharper out of the box - it took some elbow grease to get it paper-slicing sharp - and you can find MagnaCut knives at just a slightly higher price. Fixed-blade sheepsfoots are hard to find so I'm glad I grabbed this anyway: it's already getting used and I appreciate having it. But I should have been a little picker about the cost.
