Great buy

Gave this to my dad for christmas. It is a great tool and it went over great. the only con was the sharpness of the blade the grind was off and had to be touched up.

Solid tool, great price!

I use this for general trimming around the homestead and carry it with my pack in the Jeep when I'm out and about. A good, solid well made in America tool that I recommend.

Product

When I received this product I was filled with inconsolable rage. I thought that such an awkward item should have included a sheath. I had to order the sheath after the product came.

Good universal tool.

It is different and does not excel at any one job, it does do many things quite well. The hand guard gets in the way when using the hook part of the blade but can be worked with.

Woodsman Pal

Well; first, these are the original and they are tough looking and the real deal. My best friend and I have been looking at these for a long time, and the recent promotional offer landed us the opportunity. They are very old school, but we think the will work on zombies just as much as the new styles (green handles) we see all over the place. There were some initial quality issues, I called the knife center and the company. The president and family owner of the company was very upset and wanted me to send these directly to him so he could inspect and correct the problem right away. He sent us two more that day along with a return label. The president wanted to see them personally and wanted us to be satisfied. So the company is a stand up company, and Knife Center is a stand up company and we are satisfied. I have only chopped down one bush, and it worked pretty good. We plan to go zombie hunting latter during this year's zombie season!!!

My most disappointing knife purchase ever

Full disclosure, I bought mine before joining the knife center. It was delivered undamaged and the fit and finish were all excellent.. OK, what is the problem you ask? For brush clearing in New England it does not work. If you want a retro, cool looking WWII type of knife with with a cool vibe, buy one, just don't try to clear brush with it. I have several machetes and a couple of tobacco knives that clear brush well. I assumed the Woodman's Pal would bring it to a whole new level. Every time I struck a 3/4 " to 1.5" diameter piece of brush, The WM's Pal either bounced off, or even worse, bounced back. Looking at the knife, I assumed I was the problem. I asked two experienced friends to try it to see if it was me, I did not "lead the witness." Just asked them to try it and let me know what they thought. Their collective responses were to throw it away and continue to use my machetes. After that I decided to give it a try on other tasks, splitting small diameter pieces of wood and the like. II was able to make it work with a lot of effort, it did not perform as well as either one of my hatchets or batoning with a decent bushcraft knife. So, if you want a good looking knife, well constructed to hang on your wall, or to show your friends, this does it in spades. If you want a good brush knife to actually clear brush, look elsewhere. Surprisingly the "Cons" review choices do not have "Performance" or "Operation" as selections. As I said above, great knife, just doesn't work. I forgot I have one until I saw it online here.
