Boker Tracker Fixed Blade FAQ
Designed by Dave Wenger, the Boker Tracker series reimagines the classic survival pattern with specialized geometry for carving and wood processing. These robust fixed blades feature 1095 carbon steel and crowned spines for improved performance in the field.
What steel is used in the Boker Tracker fixed blades?
The Boker Tracker series utilizes 1095 carbon steel with a protective powder coating. This combination provides high durability and ease of sharpening in outdoor environments while the coating helps mitigate the corrosion sensitivity common to carbon steels.
What tasks is the Boker Tracker designed for?
These knives are designed for versatile survival tasks, combining the utility of a small hatchet for light chopping with a recurve section that functions as a draw knife. The Tracker series excels at feather sticking, carving, and skinning.
What makes the Tracker 2.0 spine unique?
The Boker Tracker 2.0 features a crowned, rounded spine instead of a swledge. This design is more comfortable for thumb placement during detailed carving and prevents the knife from tearing up a baton when splitting wood.
How do the different sizes in the Tracker series compare?
The series includes the Micro Tracker 2.0 with a blade length of approximately 3.25 inches and the Mini Tracker which features a blade over 5 inches long. While both use Micarta handles, the Mini Tracker is significantly thicker at over 3/16 of an inch to handle more intensive chopping.
Can the Boker Tracker be lashed for survival use?
Yes, the Boker Tracker series includes handle screw attachments with pass-throughs for lashing the knife to a branch or stick. This allows the tool to be used in spear or reaching applications common in survival scenarios.
What kind of sheath is included with the Boker Tracker?
Each Boker Tracker comes with a Kydex sheath and a wide belt clip. While the stock setup is most conducive to right side carry, the sheath is compatible with aftermarket attachments like large Tek-Loks or UltiClips for left side or specialized carry.
