Seahorse Whittlers

The Case Seahorse Whittler features a three-blade configuration consisting of a large primary Wharncliffe blade, a small pen blade, and a small coping blade. The smaller coping and pen blades fold out from one end of the frame, while the large Wharncliffe folds out from the opposite end.

The Seahorse Whittler utilizes a split-backspring design. This construction features two separate backsprings; each spring supports one of the smaller blades on one end, and both springs combine to support the large, primary Wharncliffe blade on the other end.

The primary Wharncliffe blade features a completely straight cutting edge, a long taper to a narrow tip, and a significantly thicker spine than is typically found on modern traditional slipjoints. This robust design honors the original historical purpose of the Wharncliffe blade shape, which was engineered specifically for woodcarving and whittling.

Most models in the Case Seahorse Whittler series utilize Tru-Sharp stainless steel, with some variants offered in carbon steel. Tru-Sharp stainless steel provides excellent corrosion resistance and is easy to resharpen, while the carbon steel options appeal to traditionalists who prefer a blade that patinas over time.

The Seahorse Whittler series offers a wide variety of handle scales, including jigged bone, smooth bone, micarta, and synthetic covers. These options range from rugged, high-grip textures to classic, polished aesthetics to suit different preferences.
