CIVIVI Altus Series FAQ
The CIVIVI Altus is a compact button lock folder designed for versatile daily carry with a blade length just under 3 inches. This series balances performance and aesthetics by offering Nitro-V steel paired with diverse handle materials like aluminum, G10, and wood.
How do you open and close the CIVIVI Altus?
The Altus series uses dual thumb studs for manual deployment or the button lock for a gravity-assisted swing. Because it features a button lock mechanism, you can depress the button to release the blade safely while keeping your fingers out of the cutting path.
What blade steel does the Altus series use?
Most models in the CIVIVI Altus series feature Nitro-V stainless steel, which provides a great balance of toughness and corrosion resistance. Select premium variants are also available featuring Damascus steel blades for a more distinct look.
Is the CIVIVI Altus suitable for left-handed carry?
Yes, the Altus is equipped with a reversible deep-carry steel pocket clip for ambidextrous carry options. While the button lock itself is not perfectly symmetrical, it is designed to be easily operated with a left-handed index finger with very little compromise in ergonomics.
Does the Altus have a flipper tab?
The Altus series does not include a flipper tab, instead relying on thumb studs or the button lock for deployment. This lack of a flipper tab provides a cleaner profile when the knife is closed and prevents it from catching on pocket seams.
Why is the CIVIVI Altus popular for everyday carry?
The Altus is frequently cited as one of the best CIVIVI knives for EDC due to its fidget-friendly action and practical sub-3-inch blade. It offers a high degree of variety with handle options including aluminum, G10, Micarta, and Guibourtia wood to suit different style preferences.
