CIVIVI Bluetick FAQ
Designed by Bryan Montalvo, the Bluetick series combines a thin, hollow-ground blade with a slim handle profile for exceptional slicing performance. These flippers are engineered for agility, featuring a ball-bearing pivot for the smooth, reliable action expected from CIVIVI.
What steel is used for the Bluetick series?
Most models in the Bluetick series use Sandvik 14C28N stainless steel, though premium variants are available with Damascus steel. 14C28N is selected for its high corrosion resistance and its ability to maintain a very sharp edge through frequent use.
Does the Bluetick have a reversible pocket clip?
Yes, the Bluetick features a deep-carry pocket clip that is reversible for either left- or right-hand carry. This design allows the knife to sit low and discreetly in the pocket while remaining accessible for users of both orientations.
What makes the Bluetick blade good for slicing?
The Bluetick features an aggressive hollow grind that creates a very thin edge, making it an excellent tool for slicing tasks. This geometry reduces resistance during a cut, allowing the 3.47 inch blade to move through materials more efficiently than thicker grinds.
Can you choke up on the Bluetick for detail work?
The Bluetick allows for a choked-up grip to facilitate more delicate and precise cuts. While it does not feature a full-sized finger choil, the area behind the cutting edge is sufficient to provide the extra control needed for detail-oriented tasks.
What handle materials are available for the Bluetick?
The Bluetick series offers a variety of handle options including milled G10, canvas Micarta, and G10 with carbon fiber overlays. Each handle utilizes nested liner lock construction, which keeps the profile slim while maintaining structural integrity and a secure lockup.
How much does a CIVIVI Bluetick usually cost?
The Bluetick is a highly affordable EDC option, typically starting around the $55 range. Premium versions featuring Damascus steel and specialized handle materials can range up to around $80.
