The CIVIVI Crabby was designed by Ken Onion Jr. His design prioritizes a compact, highly ergonomic profile that fills the hand comfortably despite its smaller footprint.
What steel is used on the CIVIVI Crabby?
The CIVIVI Crabby series primarily uses 14C28N stainless steel, with premium Damascus steel options also available on select models. The 14C28N steel shares similar performance traits with Nitro-V, offering high toughness, excellent corrosion resistance, and the ability to take and hold a very fine edge.
What is the blade shape of the Crabby, and what is it best for?
The CIVIVI Crabby features a broad sheepsfoot blade. This geometry excels at tough push cuts and controlled utility tasks, providing excellent strength and control near the tip of the 2.7 inch blade.
How are the ergonomics and handle options on this series?
The CIVIVI Crabby provides a secure three-finger grip on contoured handles, which are available in G10, canvas micarta, or shredded carbon fiber. If you need a bit more purchase for precise cuts, the front of the handle features a small, unguarded finger choil.
What locking mechanism and deployment action does the CIVIVI Crabby use?
The CIVIVI Crabby utilizes a secure steel liner lock. The pivot rides on smooth ball bearings paired with a tuned detent, allowing you to deploy the blade smoothly or slow-roll it open using the curved spine on the top of the blade.

Yes, every CIVIVI Crabby model comes equipped with a deep-carry pocket clip. The clip is inset into the handle scale with flush-head screws, allowing the knife to slide smoothly in and out of your pocket without snagging.
