Fox BlackFox B.Key FAQ

The Fox BlackFox B.Key series offers a compact, flipper-actuated utility folder with a distinctive sheepsfoot blade and an optional contactless tool variant. Designed in partnership with Beric Design, these small folders are built for aggressive, indiscriminate cutting and everyday utility.

What is the blade shape of the BlackFox B.Key?
The B.Key series features a traditional sheepsfoot blade with a completely straight sharpened edge and a spine that runs parallel to the edge before dropping to a blunted tip. This geometry makes it an effective utility cutter for tasks where you need to apply pressure safely without a piercing point.
What steel and handle materials are used in this series?
The B.Key knives are constructed with 440A stainless steel and anodized aluminum handles. The 440A steel provides high stain resistance and is ground fairly thick to handle tougher cutting tasks, while the aluminum handles come in various colors including OD green, blue, black, and orange.
Is there a non-bladed version of the B.Key?
Yes, the series includes a contactless tool variant that replaces the blade with a hook and a rubberized tip. This version is designed for interacting with buttons, touchscreens, and other surfaces you may not want to touch directly, and it folds away to keep the tool surfaces contained inside the handle.
How does the B.Key locking mechanism work?
The B.Key series utilizes an inset liner lock to secure the blade or tool during use. Despite the small size of the knife, the lockup is effective enough to support aggressive cutting and pushing the knife into materials.
Can the B.Key be used as a money clip?
While it does not feature a traditional broad pocket clip, the wide body and compact size of the B.Key allow it to function effectively as a money clip. Its small footprint also makes it an excellent gift for those who may not typically carry a full-sized folding knife.
Is the B.Key easy to open?
The B.Key is a fidget-friendly flipper knife that can be opened quickly with one hand. The flipper tab provides a consistent deployment method for both the blade and the contactless tool variants.
