The Regulator

The Regulator is built primarily as a wood-processing camp knife intended for batoning, splitting kindling, and light chopping around a campsite. Drawing inspiration from Bladesports competition and L.T. Wright's background as a carpenter, the design balances rugged blade geometry with an ergonomic handle suited for sustained, heavy-duty utility work.

Choose the Scandi grind for maximum wood-splitting and carving efficiency, or select the flat grind for greater all-around slicing versatility. Because the Regulator has a thick 3/16-inch blade, the Scandi grind adds mass toward the tip for light chopping and splits wood like a wedge, while the flat grind reduces drag when cutting through varied camp materials.

The Regulator features a 6.25-inch sheepsfoot blade made from O1 tool steel with a sturdy 3/16-inch stock thickness. Handcrafted by L.T. Wright Handcrafted Knives in Wintersville, Ohio, this carbon steel construction provides high toughness and impact resistance during demanding wood-prep tasks.

The coffin-style handle features a pronounced rear flare that locks your hand firmly in place during hard chopping or splitting swings. Hand-finished without sharp edges or hotspots, the handle is offered in canvas Micarta or polished G10, allowing you to choke back for leverage or choke up near the blade for detailed whittling and carving.

The Regulator comes standard with a handcrafted leather sheath made by JRE Industries. It features an integrated firesteel loop alongside a flexible dangler loop, which keeps the knife clear of your belt or pack while allowing comfortable sitting around camp.
