Most Microtech Hera models utilize M390MK, which is Microtech's proprietary version of M390 steel. While it performs similarly to standard M390, it features slight tweaks to the formulation to optimize performance for Microtech's specific heat treatment and grinding processes.
What makes the Hera II opening mechanism different?
The Hera II features an updated firing mechanism that is easier to actuate while simultaneously firing the blade harder than previous versions. It also includes “Crudd Cutter” serrations under the slide, which reduce friction and provide a channel for pocket lint to escape, preventing the action from gumming up over time.
How is the Microtech Hera constructed?
The series features contoured aluminum handles with a sleek, clean design where the only visible fastener is the one holding the pocket clip and tailpiece. This construction provides a minimalist aesthetic and ergonomic feel while maintaining the structural integrity required for a hard-use tool.
