SOG Altair Knife Series

The SOG Altair XR is an ultralight folding knife featuring SOG's XR lock, while the Altair FX is a compact, full-tang fixed blade designed for added strength. Both share similar handle ergonomics and lightweight GRN construction, but the XR features a 3.2-inch blade with a deep-carry pocket clip, whereas the FX offers a slightly thicker 3.4-inch blade and a modular sheath system.

The SOG Altair series uses 154CM stainless steel across both the folding and fixed-blade models. This steel provides a proven balance of edge retention, corrosion resistance, and ease of sharpening for everyday cutting tasks, with the fixed-blade variant featuring a cryogenic heat treatment.

The Altair XR uses SOG's proprietary XR lock, which functions as a fully ambidextrous crossbar lock mechanism. It secures the blade open with a hardened crossbar across the tang, allowing smooth, one-handed opening and closing without placing your fingers in the blade path.

The Altair FX includes an ultra-compact sheath with an adjustable J-style clip that supports pocket, belt, and inside-the-waistband carry. By loosening two mounting screws, you can rotate the clip to customize the draw angle to suit your preferred carry position.

SOG developed the Altair series to provide an ultralight, streamlined everyday carry option with clean aesthetics and minimal visible hardware. Both the folder and fixed blade emphasize thin blade stock and full flat grinds for efficient slicing performance while keeping pocket weight to an absolute minimum.
