Great Skinner
Great knife. The ergonomics of the knife did not exhaust my hand while skinning three elk this October. Had it sharpened just before my hunt and it made it through two elk before I noticed it dulling. Worked a ton better than my Helon scalpel knife. I liked it so much I bought a second one. Very pleased with this knife.

My Little Caping and Coring Buddy
To be honest, I've had the KOA three knife set (cleaver, skinner cleaver and bear cub) since the 90's and recently lost the Bear Cub that came with it forcing me to buy a replacement.I have used this set almost exclusively for skinning deer and other game over the last 20 years. The D2 tool steel is legendary. The edge that can be put on them is scary. The steel is so incredibly tough. It also ages beautifully with a gorgeous patina. Of course most of you know all of this about D2 already. The thing that sets these knives apart from the rest is their design and ergonomics. The Bear Cub is PERFECT for fine caping/skinning tasks and makes an outstanding bird/fish knife in a pinch. Its perfectly balanced and designed to work with your hand and not against it. You skinners out there know what I'm talking about.New knives and new steels come and go but, if you want a timeless knife that will serve you well in all skinning, fleshing and caping tasks, plus many other duties, look no further than KOA and their line of classics. The Bear Cub is no exception. They will last you a lifetime of hard use.
