Not well-designed for marine use
This is fine for an everyday carry knife, but there are countless other options available that are as good or better. The biggest problem is that this is marketed as a “water“ knife, boasting about the Magnacut steel blade. The blade steel is great, but Benchmade cheaped out on the materials used in the pivot mechanism and spacers. Because they used cheap grade steel and bronze, these will create a galvanic effect with the steel in the blade when the knife is immersed in a catalyst like salt water, which will quickly result in rust in the mechanism. This could have been easily avoided had they used the same steel as the blade in the other components, and/or if they had used something like Teflon or nylon spacers instead of bronze.Ultimately, I see this as a slap in the face of Benchmade’s customers since they are being charged exceedingly high prices for a product misleadingly marketed as optimal for use in water environments, when it’s clearly not.

First Benchmade
Although I would consider myself a collector I'm also always on the search for a good EDCI'm trying it as an EDC - I would consider the work Handyman work, so it sees a variety of different materials. Its light weight is surprising. It has a great blade steel. It feels a little plastic like for the handle, but I also have not had a knife with this type of handle material
