For the first time ever, Benchmade's best selling AXIS lock gets a boost. These spring assisted models combine speed, strength, and most importantly function in one complete package.

Features

  • Strongest Assist Locking Mechanism on the Market
  • Ambidextrous Function
  • Reversible Carry-Clip
  • Safety for Both Opened and Closed Position
  • Lanyard Hole
  • 154CM: An American made premium grade stainless steel originally developed for tough industrial applications. Known for its best all-around qualities, it offers great corrosion resistance with good toughness and edge quality.
  • AXIS® A patented Benchmade exclusive, AXIS has been turning heads and winning fans ever since its introduction. A 100-percent ambidextrous design, AXIS gets its function from a small, hardened steel bar which rides forward and back in a slot machined into both steel liners. The bar extends to both sides of the knife, spanning the liners and positioned over the rear of the blade. It engages a ramped, tang portion of the knife blade when it is opened. Two omega style springs, one on each liner, give the locking bar it's inertia to engage the knife tang, and as a result the tang is wedged solidly between a sizable stop pin and the AXIS bar itself.

Been carrying for 15 years
I've been carrying this knife for 15 years. It is my go to knife for anytime I'm in the yard or the shop. I replaced the scales about a year ago with some micarta off of Etsy and it have it a whole new lease on life. I love the action, the blade has taken abuse and asked for more. There are many newer knives in my collection, but this has been my workhorse for over a decade. Love the assist action and mine has serrated edge.

Not the same
This copy of the 580 Barrage is disappointing. I have three other benchmade I would rate 5 stars. The axis lock is very tight and very sticky when retracting the blade. The blade is also off centered when retracted. I don't think this is benchmade's standard. My 585, 940 and rogue doesn't have these issues. This is still a good serviceable product but I can also buy other good serviceable knives cheaper. I'll give it a chance. Might need breaking in. My others were good to go immediately.

Butch CI've been edc ing this knife for ten years.I've used it as a pry bar, screwdriver and beat on crap with it. Besides a few chips in the plastic handle it's NEVER failed me.I've got more expensive knives and I've got prettier knifes but I don't think I've got a tougher knife. I love it. Maybe the older models like mine were better built than some of the others reviewed on this site. But I've been thrilled with this knife and have talked several friends into buying Benchmade because of the performance of this knife.
