CPM-S30V Stainless Steel
A premium steel created especially for knives, it is a powder steel creating uniform carbide distribution and clean steel properties. As a blade material, it offers excellent corrosion resistance and superb edge qualities. This stainless steel is extremely well balanced, making it one of the best all-around choices for daily tasks.
AXIS Lock
A Benchmade original, AXIS has been turning heads and winning fans ever since its introduction. A 100 percent ambidextrous design, AXIS gets its function from a small, hardened steel bar that rides forward and back in a slot machined into both steel liners. The bar extends to both sides of the knife, spans the liners and is positioned over the rear of the blade. It engages a ramped tang portion of the knife blade when it is opened. Two omega style springs, one on each liner, give the locking bar its inertia to engage the knife tang. As a result, the tang is wedged solidly between a sizable stop pin and the AXIS bar itself.

This one is a first go to because it offers great construction suitable for hard use in a compact size suitable for easy carry with any pockets. The feel is solid. The grip is stable while in use. It has very smooth action and a strong lockup that is easy one hand open and close.

So I bought this and it’s bigger sibling the full size Griptilian. Both with thumb studs and drop point blades. Benchmade is supposedly going to stop manufacturing these because they are fully shifting to the Bugout as the bottom end workhorse knife. I found this to be the perfect size and weight to carry. It is slightly thicker in the handle making a good solid grip. I put a deep carry pocket clip on this to make it ride a bit lower in my pocket. The original clip is fine but some may find the deep carry better. I like that this is axis (crossbar) lock and uses washers instead of bearings. This deploys fast and falls shut. Bearings can get crud in them and start to grind or feel gritty. This knife was intended for daily carry and hard work. As for size I like the bigger Griptilian for hard work cutting and would carry that for camping or hiking where I would need a bigger knife that fits my hand better for extended use. The mini Griptilian though is much better for everyday carry where I’m going to use it only occasionally and carry it more often in the pocket.It’s easy to see why this was Benchmade’s primary blue series knife for over a decade. It is great quality with a lifetime warranty.

The best folder I've ever owned.
I love everything about this knife. Starting with the handle, the design provides a lighter, more flexible grip for work that requires a little finesse without compromising the ability to have a stronger, extremely secure grip for heavier cutting. One can't discuss the handle without mentioning this knife's perfect balance. The spot on the handle where your index finger naturally comes to rest is the precise center of gravity for this knife. Adding to the ergonomic perfection is the Axis-Lock system. Now a widely copied feature, I believe Benchmade's original design is still the best. Just about any folder you pick up can be easily deployed with one hand, but the Axis-Lock allows you to just as quickly and easily stow the blade one handed as well. In fact, after a brief break in period, you can easily open and close this knife with a flick of the wrist(at speeds comparable to auto open/close models). The drop point blade, razor sharp out of the box, is a flexible use design that is perfect for every day carry. The CPM-S30V steel retains an edge and resists rust effortlessly. Bottom line, this is a fantastic knife. Stop thinking about it and buy it already. I promise, you'll be glad you did.
