BO01BP0009: Boker Plus Kihon DC 2.0

Boker Plus

The American custom knifemaker Lucas Burnley, embodies the idea of Japanese Kihon with the design of the Boker Plus Kihon DC folding knife. The term originally encompasses Japanese martial arts fundamentals and basic techniques, which Burnley has implemented down-to-earth in a solid everyday knife. The features and straightforward design are evidence of its high practicality and give the knife with the decisive price-performance advantage an ideal basis for everyday cutting tasks. The satin finished drop-point blade made of D2 opens smoothly thanks to the ball bearings over the removable thumb stud, while the crossbar lock guarantees intuitive, safe, and practical unlocking of the knife. The 2.0 versions of the popular model are also suitable as a lightweight full-size EDC pocket knife thanks to the 15% weight reduction. The non-slip handle with texturized squares is made of high-strength GFN and sits comfortably in the hand. Blue anodized rings around the blade pivot screw and the large handle screw give the Kihon a finishing touch. The Kihon DC 2.0 comes supplied with a lanyard hole and a convertible tip-up wire clip for flexible carrying options.

Home Run
I have many knives - probably too many but I know a really good knife when I get one and the Kihon is exactly that. The crossbar lock is smooth with a solid lock up. The opening and closing action is excellent with the ball bearing pivot. D2 steel is decent and came wicked sharp, Feels great in your hands - including the wire clip which helps improve my grip. Nice looking grind pattern on the blade. The FRN handle is beefy enough to give the knife a secure feel and has a nice pebble grain pattern to prevent slippage. It's fidget friendly, functional and extremely budget friendly. I honestly like it better than my drop bear, Iridium and the bugout which are some really nice knives.

Very Nice
This knife hits all the right marks, especially at this price. I wasn't expecting a ball bearing pivot, and especially one executed this well. I really like the look and feel of this knife, and think it's a great EDC option. The only think that bugs me is the wire pocket clip--but that's just personal preference and a very minor drawback.
