BO02LG115: Magnum Persian Fixed

Magnum by Boker

Full-sized outdoor knife with Persian roots. The 440 stainless steel blade was conceived in the shape of a modified drop point blade. The grip design features an oriental influence that is frequently found on Persian knives. The distinctive index finger groove and the downward sloping grip are indicators of its origins. The full tang construction terminates in a skull crusher with tapered point. The green G10 scales have a pleasant texture with a lanyard hole. Shipped with Kydex sheath and belt adapter.

Yep, Handle is to small
I took a chance after reading the reviews because it's a cool looking knife. I like the pseudo-falcata look. But yes, the handle is to small. I have average size hands and the knife is pretty much unusable. Because it doesn't fill the hand, if you stab anything besides cardboard your index finger gets slammed into the the finger guard...painfully. I have not tried chopping anything so I can't speak to the possible weakness at skinniest part of the handle. I did wrapped the handle in paracord to make the knife fill my hand and get some cushioning at the finger guard, but that makes the Kydex sheath unusable. Painfull ergos, can't use the sheath now...but still a cool looking knife. That's all I've got to say about that.

Not bad.
I use it mostly for camping and light bushcraft activities. I haven’t put it through hard use yet but my first impression is that it’s ok. My biggest complaint is the handle scales not being wide enough. They don’t make the handle feel very robust in my hand. I love the blade and handle shape though. Also the sheath is very lackluster.

Fit and finish
The fit and finish of this knife are terrific. I like the shape of the blade which lends itself to many tasks on the trail, or in camp. The handle is very skinny however. I may look into having a handle made for it as this doesn't fit in the hand as well as other knives. The Kydex sheath is just ok, but it does seat the knife with a satifying "click" allowing the knife to be carried inverted on a pack if needed. The blade finish is darker than what is pictured. It's more of a black color which I appreciate. Overall good quality as expected from Boker. The skinny handle prevented me from scoring it with 5 stars.
