a heavy duty cutter, to be sure. most of the issues i bring up are nitpicks of my own, and shouldn't discourage you from buying one.short version: minor nitpicks, scabbard is "meh" at best, but worth the money as it's very sturdy and could take all kinds of abuse and keep going, and will cut out of the box.long version: overall it balances out well, though it is a tad blade heavy, though that's not necessarily a bad thing. the edge it comes with, while not "razor" sharp is more than serviceable, although if you're finicky about edge sharpness(and i am) some work is needed. the edge grind is also not ENTIRELY perfect, but a bit of work with a stone tuned it up nicely. the point is very well made and sturdy, and you could sharpen the false edge if you were so inclined, though that would take more than a little work as its 2-3 millimeters thick, the hilt is one or two handed, although if you have bigger hands it'll be a tad cramped for your other hand. the quillions are short but serviceable, although the edges are a bit sharp and can bite your hand a bit, but some file work can take care of that(again, me nitpicking). the handle scales are comfortable, though a tad slick, but not enough to be worrisome, though i did have to tighten down one of the handle screws for it to fit flush (another nitpick), although it does make it easy to remove should you want to do a cord wrap or use some other material on the handle. the biggest issue of the entire package is the sheath. while it does it's job and is fairly sturdy, it rattles A LOT and isn't all that secure, though as long as you keep it tip down you should be fine. the MOLLE points might work, but the plastic is thin and i, personally, wouldn't gamble too heavily on them holding up to heavy abuse, though you can end-run around this by making some paracord loops and hanging it off a belt, or just lashing it to a pack. though i will say the scabbard does have the added benefit of a drain hole at the bottom. so, overall, i would recommend this, especially if you enjoy a bit of fine-tuning or personalizing, but it will perform just fine right out of the gate.
