Prolific EDC and utility knife designer Ostap Hel has worked his magic once again with the CIVIV Ki-V. This fifth pocket front flipper double detent slipjoint is a mouthful we know but also a great choice for everyday carry. Its compact profile, as we said, is perfect for a fifth pocket on your favorite pair of jeans or also as a money clip knife as the deep carry clip lets it - or some cash - bury nice and deep. The extended blade tang isn't overly long like a friction folder but it does have a large area for you to access using your thumb or index finger to get the blade moving. Once deployed, the straight Wharncliffe cutting edge is great for utility work, biting into the material you need to cut with the lightest pressure. The straight lines of the handle and blade may not look comfortable but on a knife this size, the square shape actually helps to fill the hand better and make the knife more usable. To say we're impressed with the Ki-V is quite an understatement, we can't think of a knife this size that gets this many things right. It's mighty impressive!
