CIVC250541: C25054-1 Ostap Hel Purr Folding Knife - Gray & Ivory G10

CIVIVI Knives

The CIVIVI Purr is a masterclass in playful engineering, designed by Ostap Hel to bring a sense of personality to your pocket. This ultra-compact folder features a sharp Nitro-V reverse tanto blade that excels at precision tasks like opening packages or light utility work. Built as a non-locking double detent slipjoint, it provides a snappy, clicky action that is legally friendly in many areas and endlessly fun with which to fidget. The G10 handles are layered to create a "fur" aesthetic, while the dual flipper tabs and hardware complete a charming, feline-inspired profile that is as functional as it is adorable.

The Purr is defined by its clever "hidden" design; when closed, the dual flipper tabs stand up like cat ears, and the handle hardware aligns perfectly with a laser-engraved muzzle to create a friendly cat face. It's a rare design that manages to be a serious, high-performance "box cutter" style utility tool while maintaining a whimsical, gift-ready personality. Whether you're a cat lover or a fidget enthusiast, the Purr's combination of "ear" deployment tabs and a smooth bearing pivot makes it one of the most unique and approachable knives in the CIVIVI lineup.

Cons: Ease of Opening, Handle Feel, Handle Material
Cute novelty knife but awkward to open
Despite being a female, I usually don't like 'cutsie' knives but I couldn't resist the 'Purr'. The knife is quite small and in my female hand, awkward to open because of its tiny form factor and because the G10 handles have zero texture to them and are completely smooth and a bit slippery when trying to open the knife. What I also did not expect was how incredibly thin the blade is on this knife, which is slightly thinner than a Case peanut blade, which also has a sharp spine, and is the thinnest blade in my several hundred item knife collection. Thank goodness this knife has both a back and front flipper to open the blade because I am terrible at opening front flippers. When I use the back flipper to fully open the knife, I am only successfully in performing this task about half the time. I also have to 'look' at where the blade is, because of this knife has two ears and cat faces on both sides of the knife, so you can't automatically tell where the blade opens unless you look inside the handles. The 'Purr' is a novelty knife and I'll just keep it as a collector's item and not a user knife..This knife is not in the class of a true EDC pocket knife like the Civivi Baby Banter, the Kizer Microbe, or even the Knafs 'The OTC' (the last one also being a bit awkward for me to deploy but with a more robust blade and handle.)
