Impressed
This is the nicest CRKT I've ever owned. I probably have at least 25 CRKT's in my collection, and there's a feeling of quality to this one that no other CRKT that I've ever handled can match. It isn't something I can put my finger on. CRKT's thing has always been making a good knife for a great price. But at least in my opinion, they've long had a whiff of intangible cheapness to them. This knife doesn't have that. It feels solid, with no wiggles or rattles anywhere. The blade is sharp, evenly ground, and centered. The G10 feels dense and high quality. The detent is fantastic, providing wonderful flipping action. The lockup is very solid, even for a small knife. Honestly, I look at this as a fancier option to the Ontario RAT II w/S35VN. It's a perfect competitor to that knife, and while I will always be a proponent for the RAT series of knives, this knife is just nicer than the RATs currently being made (since Ontario's closure and buyout). The only problem with this knife is the price. Using the RAT II as a comparison again, you can get one in S35VN for $100 (give or take). This Homefront compact has a ball-bearing pivot and aluminum bolsters, yes, but I don't think it's worth $50-$80 more (I was coaxed with the combination of the current sale price and a double rewards promotion). So, it's overpriced in my opinion, but it's a joy to use and carry. Would recommend.
