The spear is one of man's oldest, reliable weapons. Early examples were no more than sticks or poles with fire hardened points. As man learned how to knap flint, cast bronze and forge metals he would quickly adapt these technologies to the spear.

The spear, when used as a thrusting weapon, allowed one to dominate any enemy armed with a shorter weapon like a mace, axe, sword or even a bayonet. When thrown, the spear enabled man to bring down the largest predator while staying safely out of reach of fangs or claws.

With cold forging technology pioneered by Cold Steel, we can offer high performance thrusting and throwing spears at reasonable prices. All come with premium American Ash shafts and SK-5 medium carbon steel heads. Like traditional spearheads, ours are heat treated and then drawn to a tough spring temper. The concept is that the spear head should flex or bend under impact stresses rather than break or shatter.

The original Assegai was invented by the legendary Zulu King, Shaka in the early 1800's. Its long, broad blade and short handle were ideal for thrusting and revolutionized tribal warfare in Southern Africa. Our Assegai has all the features that made the original so deadly. It is available with a short shaft for thrusting or a full length throwing shaft.

Very well made real world use spear
I bought this about a year ago not only did it arrive with a mere few days but as it's perfect you straight out of the box. It throws excellent and stabbing ability is second to none.You definitely need better screws than it comes with. And his others have said it would be very nice and it came with a nice hard polypropylene shaft for added strength. As the taper into the Spearhead does get quite thin stop or just have it with a slightly wider shaft. It's fun to use Pierce straight to the side of a car door with no problem and no damage. Highly recommend getting a couple of these to everybody.

Oh My G-d... LOLIt is impossible to hold this wicked beast in hand and not wish you had a nice charging lion or other foe to dispatch.Exceptionally well made. It comes sharp enough to do you serious damage if you handle it carelessly out of the box. Approach with reasonable caution.My only complaints are that my assegai at least, arrived lacking the screws required for mounting the head to the shaft. DO NOT attempt to swing the spear about without screwing the shaft to the head. This could result in the head flying off the shaft and it will cause serious damage where ever it lands.And, the stain on the shaft will come off on your hands. Rubbing the shaft down with some lemon scented furniture polish will quickly remove the excess and leave a still dark but somewhat duller finish.Over all, this is a wicked fun, very well made device that will appeal to your inner Lion Killer.I highly recommend!

Short African Spear--Assegai
I like it very much. The spear head is impressive for size. Moderately sharp. The shaft of the spear is nicely colored dark brown, but if your hands are moist, you'll get some of the coloring of the shaft on your hands. Overall I'd say it was a good buy.
