The 10" counter or bench sharpener offers larger, wider diamond surface for sharpening a variety of edges including shears, cleaver and specialty knives, plane sole, machete, etc. Coarse diamond stone (45 micron / 325 mesh) to quickly restore a neglected edge; Extra-Coarse diamond (60 micron / 220) when significant removal of material is needed for damaged edges. Setting bevels, and cleaning up damaged blades
I own 2 of 10" DuoSharp stones. I is the fine/extra fine, and I finally purchased the coarse/extra coarse. These stones work very well. They are large enough to work with most knives, and tool steel (chisels, plane blades). They are easy to clean up and almost no maintenance, just follow the directions. I feel these are an excellent value and should be part of any person's arsenal who wants easy to use quality stones. Notes you will collect rust in the stones if not cared for properly, however it doens't seam to effect their usefulness. The coarse/extra coarse set is great for setting bevels and fixing damaged blades, it will not leave a great finished edge. The fine/extra fine set will leave a good edge knives, but will not polish blades. I would recommend both sets.
