Rooted in the cutlery heritage of Seki City, Japan, the Kanetsune Shiro-Karasu KB-291 draws its aggressive profile from the sharp silhouette of a wild crow's beak. The blade utilizes a 15-layer Damascus laminate built around a core of Japanese Blue Steel No. 2, an alloy revered for its keen cutting ability and dependable edge retention. Kanetsune preserves the upper blade flats with a traditional raw Kurouchi finish, contrasting the dark forge scale against the exposed Damascus layers along the grind. The sweeping belly and fine tip deliver excellent slicing geometry across camp chores and utility work. Where traditional Japanese field knives typically feature wood handles, this model uses a tight wrap of high-visibility orange paracord across the full tang. The cord wrap provides tactile purchase in wet conditions and can be unraveled to yield roughly nine feet of heavy-duty cord for emergency use. The exposed tang terminates in an angular pommel built for light impact and striking tasks in the field. For carry, the included black leather sheath features a belt loop backed with an integrated D-ring for easy attachment to carabiners or gear rigs.
