Description

MCU193C: MC-193C Higonokami Friction Folder, Black/Green

Mcusta Knives

Mcusta's Friction Folder is inspired by the traditional Japanese Higonokami - a type of friction folder, which has a Chikiri (thumb lever) that can be used to both open the blade and prevent it from accidentally closing while in use. The hollow ground blade is VG-10 core San Mai and the wavy lamination line intentionally mimics the famous Hamon of traditional katana swords. The silky-smooth-opening slip joint mechanism is complimented with a ball bearing detent to keep the blade closed as well as set in the open position (non-locking). Mcusta’s passionate craftsmanship and innovative designs have resulted in this stylish, practical tool that updates the traditional Japanese Higonokami knife for the 21st century.

Mcusta does not use the conventional method of die stamping their blades like most mass-produced knives. Components are laser cut and C&C machined to assure the best possible precision fit. This is an important step in the production of a superior blade. Each knife is then hand assembled and hand finished and inspected by Mcusta's team of craftsmen. This process creates a superior knife at a reasonable price.

Made in Seki, Japan, Mcusta combines modern technology with traditional Japanese craftsmanship to produce hand finished custom quality production knives. This knife features a 3.25” San Mai stainless steel blade with VG-10 core and a black/green laminated hardwood handle. Comes with elegant Japanese nishijin pouch. The Japanese Higo style is a one hand opening knife, easily opened with the thumb using the front blade extension.

Cons: Pocket Clip
Couldn't heip myself
This is a knife I didn't want. It's a higonokami after-all, Big flipper tab thats always in the way, loose friction action, and no lock.

But wait...... I saw one of these and behold; smart little open and close detents. And the flipper tab is cut back from the traditional higonokami, just enough. I had to have it, you will too!

The pocket slip is really cool and collectable but otherwise useless. A complaint or a con.......not really!
