Simple functional product, olive drab color so easy to lose outdoors
I have about 5 of these things and general quality is ok. I haven't noticed particular issues with the smell, but a wash will usually get rid of most plastic smells. Quality is ok. A brighter color like orange would be nice. A lanyard attachment of some kind would be nice. A cap keeper would be nice. The tiny ferro rod on the bottom is almost useless (hard to strike) and some people have had them fall off (you might want to check it and maybe re-glue it), but I have managed to light fine tinder with it with some effort, just to see if I could. It is similar to a US GI WW2 era match case, basic and functional. Inner diameter is around 20mm which is larger than some other match cases. It's good for other stuff besides matches too. Unfortunately, I don't have the length and weight handy as I always like to measure those. The best match case is the Exotac Matchcap XL but that is around 10x as expensive as this case. Get a pack of tinder tabs to go with the match case, either way.
