Description

PF838CS: PF838 Pub Flipper Knife - Black G10 and Carbon Fiber

Petrified Fish

The PF838 Pub is a large-size flipper knife with a quality construction that belies its affordable price. The large drop point blade is made from D2 tool steel which gives it good wear resistance and is an excellent choice for EDC knives. The handles come in either a two-tone G10 or a G10 and carbon fiber variety and are CNC sculpted to be smooth and fit your hand perfectly. The thickness of the handles gives the PF838 a sturdy feel and lends more weight to every cut. The pivot is constructed using ball bearings and provides a snappy and reliable action when deploying the blade. The Pub is finished off with a G10 backspacer and stainless steel pocket clip. The Pub is a solid choice for EDC and can't be beaten for its price point.

Cons: Blade Material, Pocket Clip
Excellent EDC knife
The action on this knife puts both my Chris Reeves knives to shame. One smooth easy flip to open with a satisfying thunk as it locks. Liner lock. To close it falls shut with gravity only and a good snick sound. Runs on ceramic bearings. CR fails on both those counts. It is heavy and big. You have to like big knives. The carbon fiber/G10 scales and inlay are very well done. Small complaint would be that the pivot is not flush. It protrudes above the scales on both sides. And the T6 screws could be set just a shade deeper and my complaint to all knife makers: Stop using T6 screws. T8 only. Steel liners. Blade is perfectly centered. The pocket clip is deep carry and would only need to be titanium instead of steel to be perfect. The blade is D2, 3.78 inches, a good tool steel but not one of the CPM super steels or magnacut. But the knife is only $35. OMG. I bought two. I like it more than many of my $400, $500, $600 knives and I am not afraid to carry it or use it or sharpen it when the time comes.
