It also incorporates an index-finger choil that allows a forward grip for enhanced control. A four-position pocket clip offers left or right-side tip-up or tip-down carry and complements the advanced design to create completely ambidextrous carry and operation.
All these advanced features were pioneered with the G10 handled Native 5, but quickly inspired lightweight versions of the design with injection molded FRN handles and premium versions with state-of-the-art CPM S110V and Maxamet blade steels. No matter which variation you choose, we are confident that the decades of product improvement that we've invested in the Native 5 will shine through.
The complex Maxamet alloy in the blade of this enhanced version of the Native 5 offers tremendous edge retention and toughness. It is further showcased by its distinctive gray FRN handle.
Zytel Handles
A nylon polymer that is lightweight and extremely durable, Zytel can be shaped and textured to provide excellent grip.

Lockback
The lockback system has been used for many decades. It can usually be found on the knife spine and it provides a strong lockup that will wear well.
Good knife but nearly impossible to sharpen yourself the Maxomet steel used for the blade is extremely hard and it takes a professional to sharpen it, Ive tried eze lap stones medium fine xtra fine, accusharp, even sent it back to Spyderco and it came back unable to sharpen so for $ 200.00 id just get the regular steel.
Can be sharpened only on diamond stones, adding all the patience you got.I didn't even try to reshape geometry, but as it came from factory was already good enough to me. All this bein said, it can be used and abused on cardboards, plastics, ropes... You will forget when's the last time you sharpened it. Unreal, sick edge retention.In order to get it al little more rust resistant I forced patina mine, and now it reveals the heat treatment lines... this thing is beautiful. I live close to the sea and I sweat like a pig into an oven most of the year. Not a single dot of rust after almost 5 years of usage.Robust but at the same time so light-weight that you need to pay attention when laundry your pants. I forgot it in my pockets many times tho, still perfect.
I love the thicker FRN handle than the older version FRN handle ( Endura). This FRN handle is beefy, it's really important for me because thicker handle allows me to handle the knife securely. Maxamet is crazy!
