Fun but needs to be better quality for the price
I bought both this version and the more budget version, but I gave that one away as a gift so I don't have personal experience with it: https://www.knifecenter.com/item/SPYUS114/baliyo-yus114-flip-pen-by-spyderco-heavy-duty-grayblack-usa-madeI played with this for about a week at work. I dropped it on carpeted office flooring from sitting height and it snapped where the wing bits meet the center catridge. Its just a slim loop of plastic holding the wings to the catridge. I assume it was an unlucky hit with the wing folding open and the leverage adding to the strain but $30+ dollars seems like the center should be metal to hold up better. I also noticed that on wings where they milled out the place for the metal weights at the end it milled through into the inside so you have this asymmetrical jagged pattern of metal showing through. Pen writes great but you don't really buy something like this to practice your smooth penmanship. In conclusion: fun but if it just breaks immediately there is no real reason to buy the more expensive version (and on the cheaper version reviews also note durability as an issue). I am generally careful adult so I can't imagine how fast this would break with someone younger and wilder owner.
