TCTMAVMIC: Richard Rogers Maverick Crossbar Lock Folding Knife - Richlite Micarta

Tactile Knife Co.

Tactile Knife Co's first Crossbar Lock mechanism, the Maverick, was designed in collaboration with Richard Rogers. It sports a deep bellied drop point blade shape precisely ground from resilient MagnaCut steel with dual thumb studs and a nimble tip. The shape excels at EDC and utility tasks while also being quite tactical in a pinch and also an adept hunting tool. With contoured and textured Richlite Micarta scales, the Maverick has a thin form factor that carries better than almost any folder out there yet still packs plenty of cutting potential for a variety of tasks. It's unbelievably lightweight for its size and the ergonomics are just superior. It's also one of the best values in the knife industry packing a CPM-MagnaCut blade and 100% American materials and manufacturing for under $250. We don't know how they do it, but we love it! Well done Richard and Tactile, this is an impressive piece of engineering and craftsmanship.

Great edc
This is a great edc. This knife would be excellent in most knife usage environments. With the excellent heat treatment of the Magnacut, this knife will last a long time. The pocket clip works well in my pants.

Great Knife
Got grit and sand in it right away (my fault). I took it apart to clean it, it is tightly machined and I noticed the phosphor-bronze washers. Mine had 3 adjustment points on the Omega springs, I have only tried the firmest setting. Be warned, after re-assembly I had a hard time getting the centering perfect while not having the pivot screw too tight (but I’m no expert). If you have loose threads they may snag the thumbstuds when retrieving it from your pocket. I’ve had that happen a few times. Dropped it on concreted while closed—a minuscule pebble hit between the layers of richlite right on the edge and separated the topmost layer up just a hair. Otherwise no damage, that was a nearly un-replicatable event.Mostly used for food prep. Love how it cuts fruits, oddly satisfying. I did drive it too far through a steak on the grill and hit the grill grate and just barely rolled the very apex which is crazy at their prescribed HRC.Awesome knife. Near perfect length and the handle is very comfortable and roomy. Blade design is sweet, at a glance looks like a common blade profile but the angles are tweaked just enough to make it spectacular, also the swedge doesn’t go all the way to the tip letting it continue cut nicely all the way out. I liked it a lot better in person than in photos. So light I don’t know it’s there until I need it which is awesome for an 3.5” blade. Pocket clip is barely noticeable when holding. Highly recommend this knife.
