The Atayal is named after one of the largest indigenous tribes in Taiwan. For the indigenous peoples who live in the mountains, the knife plays an important role in daily life, from clearing the patch when walking through the bushes in the forests to self-defense, hunting, and food preparation. The unique upswept edge is great for processing meat, and the strong blade tip offers superior penetration capabilities.
The Atayal is a mid-large recurved edge knife featuring an 8.8" blade made of Japanese SK85 (1085) Carbon steel. The knife comes with a skeleton tang for weight reduction. The blade is carefully heat-treated to 56-58HRC with a dual tempering process for maximum durability, flexibility, and easier resharpening in the field.
