Great piece of work

This was my first Dirk Pinkerton and I instantly became a fan boy!! Artisan cutlery and Dirk designed and produced a seriously over built blade and I love everything about it, from the pocket clip to the screw in bolt that turns it into virtually a fixed blade. As always m390 doesn't disappoint, lock up is great. Fit and finish is top quality. In my opinion I believe that the knife is priced ridiculously well and the best bang for the buck ive had in a long time. If you are hesitant dont be just be prepared for a beast of a folder!! And enjoy.

Artisan cutlery proponent

Great knife use it to cut paracord and do a little bit of whittling with it only thing I don't like is the clip seems a little flimsy for a knife that's built like a tank other than that it's a rock solid knife love the M380 one of my favorite

Best Knife Ever! Well not The best but A Best!

Not sure about the low star comment but I bought several of these for my family and every one was excellent and sharp as razors. Nice LARGE size and blade is rock solid. Thick titanium grip! I’m in love! Thanks!

Absolutely ridiculous. 5 Stars

This knife is absolutely not practical for everyday carry. That being said I find myself carrying it more often than not. I am a LEO and carry this most days on duty. The thick blade stock and large sized handle make it feel tough and durable in the hand as well as allowing for a secure grip with or without gloves. The Wharncliffe blade style allows for extreme precision at the tip, while also still retaining strength due to the thickness. I highly recommend this knife for anyone who is willing to overlook the impracticality of fitting a slab of metal in their pocket, but still wants a knife that can actually perform.

Biased Review (I love Proponents)

I love this knife! If you have delved into the pit of massive folders that are actually useful this is one of the best! I also have the black D2 G10 Proponent and the weight of this one is nearly the same, but way better in quality. The normal Proponent handles come with the dips and grooves that relive the nonexistent hotspots, the titanium Proponent has completely chamfered edges and is smooth as ice but feels amazing in hand. It comes with its own embroidered microfiber cloth, zippered pouch, and tin container. Out of the box mine came out with some minor manufacturing marks but were easily brushed off with the microfiber. The pivot is super well lubricated and the blade drops shut with no effort, literally no breaking required. The lock up is superb and I haven’t even needed to use the stop pin. I have been able to EDC this knife for the past month and it hasn’t failed a task I have thrown at it. I love this knife I may just buy another one!

Excellent knife and very fun!

Hello, if you're anything like me you'll read reviews and do research before making a pricey purchase. That is exactly what I did before buying this knife and I found very few negative things. I got this knife out of the FedEx packaging and felt like a little kid on Christmas day! The ArtisanCutlery "Tin" that the knife/pouch came in is a sweet added touch! After pulling the knife out of the zipper pouch I was immediately taken by the SIZE of this beast lol! I knew it would be huge but it'll just force a smile on your face, trust me. This knife came PERFECT! I'm not exaggerating either. Fit and finish, top to bottom...perfect. Razor sharp as well. I would easily have expected to pay twice the price for this level of quality. In fact I have...many times. Do yourself a favor, ignore all the negative reviews if any that you may find about this knife they were all high. In fact I will say the ONLY gripe I can even come up with for this knife, is just the fact that it's made in China. Buy one for yourself, you will be pleasantly blown away!

Great value blade

Tons of knife for the money. Titanium scales, great blade steel, great fit and finish for a frame lock under $200. I bought the D2 / micarta / liner lock version and liked it so much I had to buy this one to add to the collection. If you like big knives that slice well you owe it to yourself to try the Proponent. It is heavy and not for the faint of heart!!

Gimmick

This knife is a gimmick. For those of you who like large knives and are tempted to buy this proponent, DON'T. I started to wonder what the uses for this knife were and what were the intending purposes for it. I couldn't find any info on the net. Not a single thing. So after testing it twice, I came to the realization that this knife is a scam. I've never had a single knife perform as poorly as this one. I always do a paper test on all new knives I buy. When they are new, they cut paper well. When I tested this knife out of the box, it wouldn't cut the paper and it made me wonder why, since it had a razor edge, at least that's what I thought. I thought maybe since the blade was so big, maybe that's why it wouldn't work well cutting paper. It also made me wonder if this blade was used previously, and became dull. Either way, I thought I'd give it another chance on cardboard since the edge looks like a razor blade. This knife would not even make one pass through the card board. I kept trying and trying and came to the conclusion, this knife is a gimmick. I finished cutting my boxes with a box cutter, with ease.
