A beefy knife with a deft touch, the Proponent from Artisan Cutlery is one monster of a flipper. The heavy Wharncliffe blade measures in at 3.85" and is made from a 0.18" thick stock of high-quality M390 stainless steel. This gives it a lot of power and weight behind each cut, while the narrow tip provides good penetrative potential. This KnifeCenter exclusive version sports an attractive bead blasted finish, giving it a non-reflective and durable look. The large handles provide a solid grip due to its large finger groove and milled recesses. Handles this large would normally make the knife unwieldy, but being made of lightweight titanium gives just enough reduction of weight to make it user-friendly. The Proponent comes with a threaded pin that can be inserted into the hole near the finger groove to bolt the blade open or closed, providing stability and safety to this monster. The deploying action is extremely smooth thanks to the ceramic ball bearings in the pivot, especially for a knife of this weight and size. The Proponent is an agile touch in a large package.
