The modern result of an old folding knife, a strange result
My appreciation of this knife is guided by a little deception at the opening of the box. Actually I own a Case Sodbuster and I wanted a similar knife with locback, something like a Farm & Field Bullnose from GEC in a cheaper version. So I was very surprised to discover that the Bear & Son Farmhand is a very modern version of this traditional folding knife: no liners at all, no Delrin but G10. The result is not bad for sure, very light, but missing this well finished touch of brass liners. This knife is built like some Cold Steel models (American Lawman for example), the handle is only two G10 pieces (and very square, not rounded like the usual design in Delrin). It is a modern knife made from a traditional design, a bit like the new Beetle of Volkswagen inspired by the design of its ancester but very different in the conception and making. So, this knife is light in the pocket, it is very sharp (1095 carbon steel like old timer knives, easy to maintain sharp), the lockback is a safe system, I think it is strong. But I was expecting a true traditional knife from an old firm like Bear & Son... and finally, my hand prefers the feeling of my Case Sodbuster CV.
