Slick as Satin

The blade opens like it is on ball bearings. The locking mechanism is the simplest but most positive locking design with no extra moving parts to loosen. The bead blast finish is slick but not slippery. Good feel. It is so nice I do not even want to use it for fear I might mar the finish or something.

THIS IS ONE VERY NICE FOLDER,BLADE IS A NICE SIZE,M390,VERY SHARP. DEPLOYMENT VERY SMOOTH AND LOCK UP SOLID,TITANIUM FEELS GOOD,LOOKS GOOD AND QUITE LIGHT. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THIS KNIFE,JUST WISH ,FOR BENCHMADES NO1 KNIFE THEY HAD OF PUT THE AXIS LOCK ON IT WHICH WOULD OF MADE THIS AN ABSOLUTELY SUPERB KNIFE WITHOUT ANY DOUBT. THERE ARE A LOT OF DEBATES ON YOU TUBE ABOUT THIS AND SABENZAS,AND THAT THIS IS POINTLESS BEING SO CLOSELY PRICED,WELL BELIEVE ME ITS NOT,IVE GOT A SABENZA AND YES THEY ARE WORLD CLASS,BUT IN MY OPINION THE 761 IS UP THERE WITH IT. NEITHER KNIFE IS PERFECT,BUT IF I LOST THEM BOTH I WOULD DEFF REPLACE THE 761,OH AND AS FOR THE CLIP DEBATE, TAKE IT OFF . BRILLIANT KNIFE ,WELL PLEASED, ALL THE BEST

AMAZING KNIFE

The first thing I noticed about this knife was how big it was, and yet it weighed less than most of my other knives. This knife is super thin and super solid. Incredibly smooth, and deploys like a bullet. I carry it at work and throughout my day. Feels amazing in the pocket. Sure the pocket clip is tip down, but it honestly does not bother me at all. The handles are so thin the knife practically disappears in the pocket. The M390 steel cuts through anything with ease, and stays super sharp. I have showed a couple of my buddies the benchmade 761 and everyone loves this knife. In conclusion a great knife, and is definitely worth having.

One of the best Ever!

I've owned Benchmades before they were Benchmade (Pacific Cutlery).. I've always loved the 943,940,710,860,722,755 and hunch of their other knives, but this knife is Incredible!! Great handles, Awesome blade shape and Steel, Really light and thin, Smooth action.... And yes the clip is tip down, which I thought would be a big deal for me, but once I've carried it and used it im sold!! One of greatest!

Excellent Product

It's a great knife. The build is fantastic, the materials are even better and the whole is definitely greater than the sum of it's parts. This knife is of elegant design, American Made grade finish and a steel that is on top of the Super Steel food chain. I am a big Steel snob and M390 is one of my absolute favorites. I like the Sebenza, but until they come out with one in M390 or it's equivalent, I would take this over it anyday personally. Excellent Product, highly recommend.

Big move for benchmade

This is a fantastic knife. I own 2 sebenzas.... And I LOVE this 761. People are going to be critical of the clip placement... Especially those who MUST have a lanyard. I say: get over it. This is a fine blade. Beautiful understated design. Incredibly smooth.

awesome knife

i have had this knife in my pocket for 2 weeks now. for the second i felt it in my hand at the knife show i had to own it. it just feels so thin in your hand and in a good way. the scales are smooth and have no hot spots when holding the knife tightly. the materials use in this knife are all top notch and you can feel it quality when using and holding the knife. if i had one gripe it would be that it is tip down carry i normally prefer tip up but after checking the knife out i was willing to deal with tip down and i am adjusting to it (worth it to have this baby) i normally rotate my knifes for my edc but i think i might be in love and i see this one sticking in my pocket for a long time.

Whoa Daddy!

This could be the #1 knife of all time. Benchmade thought this one out. Handle fits hand, titanium feels good texturally, blade is a perfect utility shape. The clip is stiff, but you don't want to lose this baby. This clip feels good when gripping the knife (which is why most prefer tip-up putting clip at back in palm). You can tell when sharpening that the M360 steel has "bite" and could be the best knife steel yet. Buy American, buy Benchmade.

99% great!

Been playing with my new knife all day. I probably own 20 other benchmades and collect 710 variants so I know knives. Also I have a Sebenza. This is superior to the Sebenza for the gentlemen folder role or for anyone like me who EDCs for sitf and for whatever food or some boxes or shipping straps or whatever random stuff I find to cut up. Sebenza is better if you're lworking on a ranch or you're a carpet installer or a pro hunt guide... better for that hard, long time in the hand work. Because the 761 is slim and elegant. It fits the hand beautifully. It opens like its an assisted opener. My one complaint: no dual thumbstuds. WTH? The one that's there has interesting tooling. The blade is classic utility but with a little less belly then some of Benchmade's knives and better point. I find that the shape is excellent and it cut like a laser right from the box. The factory took a lot of care,.fit and finish exceed several of my customs. The shape is brilliant. Comfortable in all position. It has a full working guard without seeming to. You won't slip forward on the blade like with a Sebbie. This is crucial to me. The lock seems very good. Your grip reinforces it too. I usually only trust an Axis Lock but this looks very good. And none of.that "tiniest corner engaged" weak lockup of other various ti frame locks. Best knife in the universe? No knife is. If you got the cash and want an icon of industrial design that's 4.4 ounces of titanium light saber go for it!

Fantastic knife. Ignore 1* reviews

First off, this knife is fantastic. Titanium handles, open construction, M390 blade on a ball bearing pivot. Benchmade knocked it out of the park with this one. Pocket clip is unique and functional. To the guy who wrote the one star review based in the pocket clip, all I have to say is the details are on the description in the knife. If you don't like the set up, don't buy it then give it a poor review. Look at the knife as it is meant to function. A cutting tool. Not pocket jewelry. I can and would recommend this knife to everyone (those who can afford it). Barrel spacers are designed well and the mono-lock by Benchmade is tough. Absolutely love this knife.

Looks nice, but needs tweaking, then works fine; pocket clip is poor.

The lock bar was far too tight out of the box, causing a stiff, rough and gritty action. I thought they left out the ball bearings. After removing the clip and some judicious tweaking of the lock bar, it's now very slick, with a solid lock closed, and no perceptible play locked open or at any point in the swing. Ignore the clip-orientation weenies: this way works fine for me. But, the pocket clip itself is nearly useless: much too tight, and with sharp edges that gouge your steering wheel, furniture, knuckles, etc. I didn't bother adjusting it or grinding it smooth; I just left it off. I had a nice belt sheath made for it, and have used it every day since. It's big, but light and surprisingly thin. It shows no loss of sharpness so far, and I expect it won't require a touchup for some time. I like the looks of it. My wife's money was well spent.

Nice Knife with flaw in the clip design.

I don't know what Benchmade was thinking. They put in all the right materials until they hit the clip then dropped the ball. Blade Steel and Handle materials great. Then set the knife for tip down carry. Cannot recommend. Fail.
