Seenotretter Knife is a very high quality maritime tool.
When I first saw this Seenotretter knife, I was curious about it, because of its association with the Die Seenotretter Maritime Rescue Service. I was fortunate to have served in the US Coast Guard, so I was very interested in the all volunteer German SAR Service. The fact that they are funded by donations is incredible! When I received the Seenotretter knife, I was very impressed with the excellent fit and finish of this knife. There is zero play in either direction of the blades. All the scale edges are chamfered and the domed rivets are perfectly peened. The blades have divots at the tang that lock in to the back springs, this prevents debris from entering the pivots when the blades are being used. The flat Marlin spike is different from the traditional ones, however with the curved tapered tip, it works better loosening stubborn knots than round marlin spikes. You insert the flat spike tip horizontally in to the knot, then turn it 90 degrees to vertical to open the knot. You can place the curved tip on a surface, then use leverage to open the knot with more force. I plan on ordering more of these incredible tools, as I can afford them. This is an actual professional grade maritime tool, that is also very collectible.
