A stellar neck knife
Realistically, the Otzi knife is more than just a neck knife, but it's still a good baseline for your expectations. I will start by saying that this is a pretty true if far more refined replica of what was found on Otzi man. If Condor was to attempt a replica of his copper headed axe, I'd be a day one buyer lol. Anyway, it's small as is to be expected, but still fits nicely and is comfortable in my, you know, 'slightly larger than average sized hands' lol, using a three finger grip. Actually, I can just barely palm a basketball, for perspective. The blade is quite stout, and I've found that in addition to normal small blade camp tasks, it also cuts through clamshell packaging like buttah. Mine arrived sharp and it holds an edge nicely. As to the leather sheathe....well..it's not stellar. It's definitely usable, but much like the Cavelore's sheathe, I feel it's only a matter of time before it splits open. Additionally, while it has a nice braided leather lanyard that is actually an ideal length for this dude's 6'4" frame, it also unbound on one side, which, fortunately, I was at home and didn't lose the knife, but it should be noted if you intend to wear it around. I rethreaded it and tied a solid square knot, which did the trick and have had no issues with the lanyard since. Speaking of the Cavelore, I bought the Otzi as the companion blade for that knife, and I really do admire them as a pair. I'd say the Otzi has a bit darker finish to the handle and the metal wire handle wraps seems a little less precise, but otherwise, they are fairly well identical other than the obvious size difference. I think the pricing should probably be about $20 less than the Cavelore, and I bought my Otzi for about $50 which fits with this idea of pricing. It is priced higher here, so maybe wait for a sale. I think if you had to pick the Cavelore or the Otzi, and pricing was fairly equitable or say $10 difference, you unequivocally should buy the Cavelore, but for under $60, the Otzi is great.
