Fantastic blade!

I love this knife. It's a big knife and she's mean. Only a few minutes with a strop and it was sharp enough to cut the fabric of time and space - D2 greatness. Of all my knives it's the one I hump e'rywhere. The belly is perfect for slicing. The tip is thin, but I have zero concern that it won't pierce what needs it. Deep carry clip nestles it snuggly in my pocket despite the size.

Just received my Clever Girl...NICE!

The Clever Girl along with my Seismic has made me a major fan of the Deadbolt. The Clever Girl (an odd name) arrived razor sharp and with a minor adjustment of the detent it flips effortlessly. I really like the size of the knife and will be in my EDC rotation. The Clever Girl is well worth every penny! Thank you Knife Center!

She Is Very Clever! Bad A**!

I have been trying to settle on an EDC knife, and this may be it! She is very clever, and big, and sharp, and made in Taiwan! She flips open very well, right now I have to flip my wrist slightly. But, I have not lubed her yet, she may flip open by herself with some lube. I never had a deadbolt lock action, and I like it! You push that lock and the blade closes with all your fingers well out of the way. Buy one, you will not be sorry!

Clever Girl, a Beautiful Knife

First of all, I love this knife. Great design and I really like the name too! The textured G10 handle along with its curves feels really nice in the hand. I think the deadbolt on mine may have been a bit out of alignment as the opening and closing was not nearly as smooth as I expected. However, with a few tweaks it is definitely opening and closing with more ease. Glad to have it in my collection. In fact I like the shape and design so much I think I will get its sister fixed blade version as well. Thank you Mr. McGlaun for your design, and thank you for your service. Very glad to support the “Forged by War” program.

Very Clever But Bears Watching

Big beautiful girl. Flipped open easily and very sharp. My first experience with the deadbolt lock. She’s clever but you have to watch her. It took her out one day and the blade wouldn’t budge with the flipper. A call to CKRT told me what to do. I stripped her down and tightened down one side of the lock mechanism. Put her together, the blade was centered but still no flippee. Got on line found out about a tiny hole in one scale. Put a tiny torx wrench in there to loosen or tighten the flippee.

clever girl folder

Ordered one was supposed to be 5 day delivery, got it in 4. Handle shape very ergonomic. thumb ramp very good for putting added pressure on blade when cutting harder heavier materials and for better control of the edge. Thumb studs usually not a fan especially on flippers. Usually too point forward and get in the way of slicing. These while usable for opening seem to serve the purpose of taking the strain off the lock when doing more forceful cutting as they butt up against the liners. I have heard comment and read also of poor fit and finish of "CRKT" knives. I own over a half dozen and have no complaints. This knife is a tank. I will carry it whenever I am wearing jeans, which is most of the time. I will carry it hunting as I like the upswept skinner (persian) style, hiking, stream fishing. Pretty much any time I am outdoors. D-2 blade, my confidence in the heat treat is higher as Taiwan is country of manufacture. I really like the lock. Lock up is secure and tight. not the lightest knife but you know you are holding something substantial. great design.

Use LocTite!

Everything great already said is true........but put thread locker on the Deadbolt button threads. I was flipping my knife and the locking mechanism blew apart. Found the three pieces, blue thread locker on the male threads, and we'll see how this continues. Love the design by Austin McGlaun ( I own one of every one of his designs) but my jury is still out on the Deadbolt lock.

One of best pocket carry

Work in security business this knife has worst pocket clip ever. Allmost impossible to remove one hand from pocket. The knife Is very heavy cheap steel painted painted liners. Grips G10 handle looks great but needs to be sanded with bevel remove hot spots. I like function of Blade lock system D2 is great has good looks is a good tactical folder

Well built but could be better

First impressions of the Clever Girl is that it’s a TANK! Very well built out of top shelf materials. I happen to love D2 steel and big Persian blades so on those points, it’s a winner. But, it’s very heavy. The steel liners should have been skeletonized to reduce some of the weight. The bearings and flipper needs some wrist action to deploy the blade, surprising to say the least since my experience with IKBS pivots is that blades fly open. Maybe it’s the whole Cross Bolt lock setup in general as it too is very difficult to unlock due to it sticking. For such a big folder, the clip is almost comically small. It’s a fold-over deep carry design but it still allows a bit of the handle to protrude above it. The clip is secure but I’d have more confidence in it if it were twice as long. It’s smaller than some of the tiny Cold Steel clips on the market. Overall though, the ergonomics of the handle are outstanding and the big hollow-ground blade is an excellent slicer and penetrator. The textured G-10 scales give excellent purchase and feel great in forward or reverse grips.

Check out the CIVIVI Knives Jim O’Young Synergy 4

Before you buy a Clever Girl for $144 check out the CIVIVI Knives product, Synergy 4 for $100. My CG locks up due to tiny screws that can loosen. The Synergy 4 is the same size blade, no screws, better steel and is cheaper. I’ll let you know how it is. My CG is in a drawer and useless.

Will Not Open Every Time

There is something somewhere on this knife that causes it not open by the flipper. It takes two hands and I can’t have that. This one will go in a drawer. $150 wasted.
