Sleek and Sharp.

This thing out of the box is sharp! I accidentally closed it on my thumb very lightly and I had a cut that bled for a little while! Oops! Out of the box, it was a bit stiff to open. I took a torx bit to it, and loosened it just the tiniest amount. Now it opens perfectly every time. Guess they got a little over zealous at the tightening factory. This knife is pen sized closed up and fits in my pockets perfectly. I forget I have it most of the time. I use this as a restaurant steak knife. I am not running a company so this knife has no CEO duties. It makes an excellent traveling steak knife for a very good price! This is a great companion knife in addition to your other EDC. Highly recommend it!

Very nice improvement

I own both, the previous version of the CEO with the thumb access, and this version with the rear flipper tab. This version is a wonderful improvement from it's original. I loved the original, but this one now has a slightly smaller profile, with a slightly longer blade. What makes it awesome is that rear flip tab, it opens so effortlessly with a simple little tab. This blade is just a bit too small to use the original thumb access on the original CEO with my big hands so I really appreciate the flipper.

Exactly as Advertised

I have the older version of this knife with a thumb stub instead of the flipper. It also has the company logo etched into the pocket clip and a slightly different texture to the handle. Everything else is the same, and it's a great knife to have in the office. Opening letters or packages and just having it handy. It is light, slim, discreet, elegant and useful. Fantastic knife, especially for special occasions or as a gift.

An improved Ceo

I just received my new CEO, and it's a big improvement over the previous version. I love the reversible pocket clip which allows left or right side carry. It is also easily opened with the left hand too. It is now also tip up carry, which I prefer. This is my sixth CEO and I hope they have custom ones soon.

Little Changes Make BIG Improvement

I have the original CEO and bought the Flipper as soon as I heard about it. Not sure why anyone is saying it is difficult to flip; I find that it flips easily and reliably. The material of the handle is an improvement to the grip of the knife. The pocket clip is smaller and no longer has a CRKT logo, calling far less attention t it when carried in a pocket. The steel has been upgraded to AUS 8. And, there is more room for the thumb on the liner lock, allowing easier closing. This is a great executive knife!

Great knife!

This truly is a great knife. The opening action is quicker than the assisted opener this knife is replacing! Nice and sharp right out of the box, and it carries nicely. This is also a great looking knife, and doesn't stand out (making it great for EDC). The blade seems to be fairly robust, though I do wonder how long the delicate looking tip will last. Overall I'd say this is a wonderful every day knife!

Love the opening action. Was a little worried after reading some negative comments about the opening but it's been perfect for me. The liner lock is a little hard to manipulate probably due to my stubby thumb or perhaps just requires a little break-in. Another hit from CRKT

This is my second CRKT CEO. The first one has the thumb stud opening. I really like it. This knife is very much more user freindly in my eyes and the only thing that I can tell they changed was adding a flipper tab and eliminating the thumb studs. I have been exploring this knife for a few hours and initially the only way it would deploy was when the blade was in a sttraight down to the floor position. After fidheting with it for about an hour it's opening flawlessly at any angle I hold the knife. This version of the CEO is a much improved version of the original. The thumb stud on my other CEO was often difficult to engage and then when closing the blade the liner lock was difficult to disengage. I have none oe those problems with this iteration of the knife. It is very sharp right out of the box. the blade is centered in the handle perfectly and there is not any blade play. The flat heel of the knife reminds me of a doctors knife with the pill crusher heel although the pocket clip is mounted there. The handle scales are textured but not too agressively since this is a gentleman's knife although there is good traction. If you need a slim knife with good geometry and a non threatening look, consider the CRKT CEO..

Great Form Factor and Utility

This is my second CEO, the first being a gift for a girlfriend (the OG design) that I can't help play with anytime I see it on her countertops. I caved and got one for myself, going for the flipper design since the recessed thumbstud was my only real ding on the original. This version improves on the first in a variety of ways: The tip down, deep carry clip attached to the backer is great. Even better is that CRKT didn't feel the need to put a logo on the clip, which goes a long way in making the knife feel classy and inconspicuous. I miss the wave pattern on the handle, but the linen texture provides very nice grip. The steel upgrade is appreciated but not especially noticed yet. The flipper does hurt that sleek silhouette, and isn't as satisfying as deploying just right on the first design, but I only have like a 60% success on that, and the flipper is pretty fool proof, so it's still an upgrade. The blade shape is so incredibly useful, I saved it to last. No knife in my kitchen has the precision and tip sharpness of the CEO. It opened that pack of Costco turkey bacon like a lightsaber, and that's after taking a second to even remember it was in my pocket. 5 stars.

I bought this specifically to leave at my desk at my office. It’s long enough to use to cut an apple or maybe a sandwich and folds up to the size of a pen or a marker, and it’s easy to clean. Mine wasn’t that sharp out of the box but I took care of that. Overall, for the price, a good value.

Ultimate pocket knife

The CRKT 7097 is the prefect pocket knife in my opinion. The ergonomics, feels like a marker or icepick. Very solid handle that fits perfectly in the void of your fingers when you make a fist. The opening is a solid and satisfying click. Closing is a very positive thunk that sucks the blade closed, chef's kiss. The integrated pocket clip that creates a wonderful feeling flat polished end cap is perfect, and very sturdy. Overall feel is extremely fidget friendly. Blade material is very high quality, easily sharpened and maintained. It also holds an edge really well. The liner lock is extremely strong with no wiggle whatsoever. You'd be hard pressed to defeat it without hurting yourself. The build quality is outstanding for the price, honestly it feels like a $200 knife. You don't usually see roller bearing assembly and deep perfect blade alignment for $20 used to $60 new. For pocket knife activities you can't ask for a better knife. If you want a knife for bushcraft or other things get yourself a fixed blade belt knife.

A good Gentleman's knife made even better!

I owned the original version of this knife and lost it - a blessing in disguise. I decided to order the updated flipper version and glad I did. First, to address the issue some reviewers have mentioned about it being difficult to open. I think I know what the problem is: If you try to open the blade by pulling back on flipper, which seems intuitive and how it may work on other knives, it is nearly impossible to open the knife. However, if you press down on the flipper (i.e. into the handle) it flips open quite readily. I suspect those who are having issues are doing the former, and not the latter. I actually like the flipper version better than the thumb stud, and appreciate the extra safety the flipper provides as a finger guard when open. CRKT apparently also heard the complaints about the pocket clip on the original, and rounded off the end so it isn't sharp like the original, and the new design allows for ambidextrous and even deeper pocket carry. The new handle is grippy and has the appearance of wood or leather. The knife has a solid feel and arrived very sharp with no play in the blade. All in all, this is a really nice Gentleman's EDC at a bargain price!

Outstanding New Model

This new 2001 model knife has subtle yet major design changes. The new model converted from a thumb stud design to a flipper configuration. The opening is very smooth and the blade appearance is improved by the removal of the thumb stud and the corresponding notch in the knife handle. The black glass-reinforced nylon handles now have the appearance of a linen texture in lieu of the previous smoother carbon fiber look. The new handles definitely provide a better grip. The pocket clip is now attached directly to the end of the knife instead of the previous side screws mounting. This improves the appearance of the knife and makes it look more like a pen when stored deeply in a shirt pocket when going to a steak house. The attention to detail and assembly quality of this knife is the type of construction you would find on knifes costing considerably more than this newly revamped CEO model. The stainless steel liners have lightening holes, are highly polished and the liner lock fits the blade perfectly. I have the original CEO black model and really enjoyed knife and especially deploying it in a nice restaurant. This new edition is going to be even more fun especially when flipping it open with greater speed. The new knife weighs in at 2.0 ounces versus 2.1 ounces for the original.

Use a little graphite

For those of you having a little trouble flipping this knife open. Graphite from a pencil lead will help to loosen it a bit. Scratch a pencil on a piece of paper repeatedly and put a little of the residual graphite powder in the hinge of the knife. Works every time. You don't need very much. Just dump it in blade channel near the hinge and work it in there.

This is an improvement!

The issues I have with the first issue CEO are all corrected with this model. The original had blade play when deployed and locked. The bushings were nylon and carry was point down. Both have exceptionally sharp blades and a fantastic profile, but this new model sports a slightly longer blade and deeper grind towards the spine. The nylon bushings have been replaced with bronze and the ball bearings that make the flipper action work are visible. All lateral blade play has been removed by employing a bar through blade stop that nestles into notches machined into both bolsters in the open and closed position. Carry is point up which is more natural for me personally. Flipping action is great and addictive! This upgrade needs a limited release with some exotic finishes and handle material to really celebrate its functionality.

excellent light duty knife

EDC in shirt pen-.. invisible & better again with clip removed. Even ambi, it flips perfectly (especially after re-tensioning and lubing pivot screws). Good quality, durable enough, deploys audibly, locks & unlocks well. Came sharp & ' Aus 8' resharpens readily, scales feel comfortable &, importantly with EDC I believe, without any 'hot-spots' ( = clip off ! ) . The weight feels right-for size and within intended design criteria. I bought five (more expen$ive here in Australia), use two EDC, and presented one each to two old friends who also as delighted as me with everything about the CRKT CEO flipper. I'll order more, in due course. Not the knife for skinning kangaroos, but just about perfect here we reckon. Hard to imagine anyone not happy with ...(again, subject to lube and adjust tension!) All pros, no cons. Very nice work Mr. Rogers and CRKT.

Great Little Knive

I purchased this knife for exactly what it was designed for, a non-abtrusive, yet capable knife to be used in an office environment. It definitely fits the bill, and only 40 bucks. Blade wasn't hair popping sharp from the box, but cut through thick paper and cardboard with ease. Blade centering good. I am a knife guy with a decent collection of Spyderco, ZT, Benchmade, Hogue, Kershaw, etc., but a couple of the office folks would raise eyebrows whipping out a Para 2. If you use knives daily, but work in an environment that doesn't particularly dig a ZT0350 coming out of the pocket, this little gem works just fine.

Great Knife

Great little knife. Came sharp and takes re-sharpening easily. It has a extremely fine point. I've used it quite a bit opening Amazon boxes and cutting the up for the recycle bin. That's about as rough service that this knife can expect from me or I can expect from it. The satin finsh on the blade is showing it's lite service. (minor staining or scuf marks). Spit polish didn't work. Maybe a Tuf-Cloth will... either way, no big thing. I really like this knife.

Great Niche Knife

Great value for money, well finished an good quality materials. It also came nicely sharp out of the box. Smaller than I expected, but certainly fulfils the discrete carry objective. Flipper does take some getting used to, but it will make a neat backup option, or primary carry where a high level of concealment is required.

Have the original, which is fairly discrete, sans the CRKT on the pocket clip. Now tip up, fully covert pocket clip, and a flipper, making it ambidextrous. Improved steel too. Only downside is the stiff action to engage; not a deal breaker.

I use the knife for EDC. Very slim, nice action, comfortable to use. I wish that the edges of the heel of the knife were more rounded. When carrying in a pant pocket the back of my hand gets scraped if I reach into the pocket for keys. Overall, a great knife for the price.

Great for light every day use like opening boxes/packages. This knife design really makes it look like a pen in your pocket for those of you who want more discretion. The movement of the blade is very smooth along a secure lock, I've been asked a few times if it's spring loaded(it's not). Fun to flick around, easy to handle with the narrow blade and textured g10 scales despite the lack of finger grooves, and what I think is a great looking design that also somewhat reminds of the classic switchblades. Overall great little knife, 4/5 would buy again

Needs a little breaking in to flip properly

Upon arrival, this knife was very hard to open with one hand, but after oiling the pivot and opening/closing it repetitively, it now opens fairly easily. It can be difficult to close, but sometimes that's what you get with liner locks. I bought this to serve as my steak knife. The high, flat grind slices through meat easily, and it came very sharp out of the box. The AUS-8 steel is very easy to upkeep with a ceramic rod and a strop. I would give this knife a 5/5 if it wasn't difficult to flip out of the box. Also, John/Frank/whatever you choose to go by today, it's unethical to leave multiple bad reviews on a product.

Good elegant knife, arrived with very stiff action

I'm a first-time flipper-knife purchaser, who was looking for an elegant pocket knife with a slim line and flipper-action. The CEO knife is awesome and ticks a lot of the boxes that I was looking for: Slim, elegant, flipper, with clean lines and a deep-carry pocket clip. Pros: It's small and unobtrusive, it feels like having a pen in your pocket instead of a big honking knife. The action (once loosened) is pretty great and flips nicely once you get the hang of it (first time flipper-owner). It's easy to disassemble, clean, reassemble as long as you're reasonably careful. The quality is fine, and I like the deep-carry pocket clip which is reversible. Cons: When it first arrived the opening action was impossibly tight and I could not get it to flip at all. I had to disassemble the knife, lubricate it, and bend back the liner lock so that it wasn't holding into the detent so incredibly tightly. I don't feel like a first-time knife buyer like myself should have to do this, but I was ready for it from some other reviews and comments on the knife. Overall I'm very satisfied with the knife, but wish the flipper was a little bigger/longer/different. I still find it hard to flip open even though it's tuned, and my wife simply cannot make it flip at all. It hurts her finger to try and she stops pushing before it will ever flip. I've never owned a flipper knife so I don't know if this is a typical experience, but it takes significant force and a specific angle to get it to flip open cleanly. I'm developing a callous on my fingertip from trying to get used to the opening action.

I have a CEO with the thumb stud that I like alot. Decided to give the flipper version a try. I can't seem to get a comfortable reliable deployment with this flipper tab. Love the size, look and feel of this knife. Going to give it some more carry time to see if the deployment will grow on me.

Tiny knife

I've got big hands so this is a little hard to hold onto. More like a finger tip knife and the scales don't offer much traction. If your fingers are dry it could easily slip out of your hand. The liner lock is hard to actuate and even has a gritty sound and feel to it. Hoping that will work in. It's funny all the images and even the videos make this look a little bigger than it really is. Blade came hair shaving sharp and flips easily. This will not be a EDC knife for me. Just a little to dainty for that. Will probably be a letter opener in the desk drawer. Very cool looking knife but they should upscale it a bit.

I can't open the blade.

The knife is a thing of beauty. It is well made, nicely finished and really sharp out of the box. It is the perfect EDC knife. Only problem is I can't open it! The blade detent us so tight, I need to use a stick on the flipper tab to release it. My fore-finger pad is absolutely raw from trying to deploy the blade. Since the top edge of the blade is flush with the handle, there is no fingernail groove. However, once the detent is overcome, the blade pivots smoothly and locks securely in place with a satisfying click. Is there a non-destructive way to reduce the hold of the detent? Otherwise as much as I love this knife, I can't use it.

I really wanted to like this knife. I just can't. I own somewhere around 70 knives. Most of them are flippers: ZT, Benchmade, Kizer, Artisan, all the big American and foreign brands. I'm saying that to let you know I'm not a novice. I'm quite fluid with them, all kinds of them. But man o man this CEO is hard to open!!! Sometimes the lock is a little tough to open too. It's a pretty thing, but beware your poor index finger! Mine already had heavy callouses: I'm in front of a desk all day and I flip knifes between Zoom calls with strangers and during calls with friendly, male clients. People love this thing and you probably will too, but I sure don't. I'm glad it's just a $40 knife or it would be going back.

Won’t flip, maybe with a hammer. I have more knives that I can count. I’m a big guy and have no problem flippping knives, but not this one. Chalking this up to experience. Quality issues

I was really excited about this product, but unfortunately the action is very disappointing. Requires extremely specific handling to flip and more often than not, the flip doesn't bring the blade into the locking position.

Flipper That Won't Flip

I have the original CEO with the thumb stud. When I saw that CRKT came out with a flipper version, I had to have it. I have many flippers including a number from CRKT. I don't know if I got a lemon or what but it is impossible to get this knife to flip reliably. I have put lubricant in the hinge and have even loosened the screws. Neither made it any easier to open. The amount of pressure needed is ridiculous. Examining my other flippers, I think the shape of the flip tab is the issue. It is backwards from other flippers such as my CRKT Ken Onion Ripple. The front of the flipper is curved when it should be almost perpendicular to the frame. To me, this is a design flaw. If the CEO Flipper opened reliably, it would be a good knife and one that I would recommend without hesitation. As it is, I'd avoid it.

Bought this knife and granted it's a cheap Taiwan knife (which is why it gets a 2 instead of a 1) it's blade is poorly made. The cutting edge of the blade is centered for about 1 inch near the handle and fades hard to one side by the time it reaches the curve near the tip the blade is only sharpend on 1 side with the opposite side having no angle ground into it. Which wouldn't be a big deal with other knives except the blade is so thin and narrow that by the time you were to fix it it would dramatically change the knife due to needing to take the edge down far enough to center the cutting edge but also having to take the back portion of the blade that has the centered edge down in order to keep the knife looking as it did factory. Even the centered portion of the blade is so dull that it won't cut paper it just rips and crumples it. If the whole point of the knife is just to stab you'd probably be just as good buying a harbor freight screwdriver. Overall not what I'm use to with CRKT knives which I'm normally a big fan of and carried in Iraq. As far as the blade material I haven't attempted to fix it yet but I read that it sharpens easily so assuming the steel is soft and won't hold an edge which is already a problem for knives with ultra thin blades even at a shallower angle.the blade opens easily but could use some extra weight, fixing the cutting edge will inevitably make the blade open less reliably. The handle feel is cheap as you can expect with lightweight small handled knives but it's made out of some kind of lightweight plastic which adds to its cheap feel. A heavier handle could improve the feel and control of the knife.

I have too many knives to count. I thought this one might have a niche. It won’t flip. Maybe with a hammer. If I push the flipper into a large piece of material harder than my hand, it’ll depress. I’m a big guy and had flippers before water was wet. How does this get into a Customer box? I have to chalk it up to experience.
