I Like it

I got this as an impulse buy. I like it. Been carrying it for a while. As others have said, opening it up can be hard due to the small side of the opening tab. On the other hand that tab doesn't stick out when you don't want it sticking out. Assist works well. Movement of the blade is smooth. The lock is tight. Clip holds it in your pocket nicely. For baseball mitt hand sizes like mine, the narrowness can make you fumble sometimes. It has good looks. The blade edge was sharp but rough. I sharpened it and it looks nicer. I am no knife expert. I don't even know all the parts. I have over sixty pocket knives. I figured to know what you like, you need to try out a bunch. Now I can't help but try out a lot of different designs. This one I like. The narrow blade allowed me yesterday to cut some zip ties holding a camera to a fence. It did so easily. I'll be carrying this around.

Good flipping action when u remove assited open. there is no detent holding it closed so it can be very easily flicked open just holding it int your hand, also the flipper tab is not as aggressive with less force needed to actuate the knife. when its open its solid.

Great Value

The flipper is small but works well. The knife has a great heft to it which is reassuring on tough tasks but still sits in the pocket very well with the deep pocket clip. It is tough, has a nice long blade, and is easy to open and close. On top of that it looks classy. Additionally, the frame lock is strong and the jimping on the flipper and on the spine of the blade are excellently designed. CRKT gives another awesome design at an great price. The blade shape and usage is similar to the Benchmade Osborne but $250 cheaper. Around the office, warehouse, or worksite this knife is tough enough to handle most tasks while not cheating you on looks. Very highly recommend.

Nice Knife

I just received this knife today and was apprehensive due to the other review but Mine opens very easily. As it's a flipper you do need to put a little pressure on the tab which is small but it isn't difficult. It will definitely be in my rotation and it disappears in my pocket with the deep carry clip. The fit and finish is very good. The knife is very sharp rt out of the box. The frame lock is solid. The assist is moderate so just rt IMO. I'd like to see it in better quality steel but with the price point, I understand you have to cut costs a bit. Overall, I highly recommend this knife for a daily that isn't for tactical use and more for moderate tasks.

Ecd this every day came sharp out the box can use it at work for most of my cutting needs and stays sharp because d2. But pretty enough that I can go outside of work and still carry it. Just great knife for price.

For the money it's really a nice knife. The tab can be a little ouchy if you sit there opening and closing the knife (for hours that is), but it works well even with heavy gloves. The blade is thick and the lock has shown to be reliable, you could probably wrench hard on it and itd hold up. A little heavy since its all steel but its tough and although there is no pommel you could smash bricks with the hilt. Good knife, for $50 its 5 stars. Also the pocket clip is good, just needs to be bent back if you snag it hard.

Perfect for the price - Sloppy lock up

Entered my EDC rotation about 3 months ago and I'm still saying it's worth the money. Bombproof stainless steel envelope handles plenty of drops and wear on a very well designed D2 reverse tanto blade with just enough belly at the tip. I appreciate the agile (narrow, but not thin) blade. Jimping is aggressive, but if you had to pierce you can be assured that it would keep your hand in place. My only complaint is the lock-up is a bit sloppy on mine (frame lock bar is just a touch too short).

Could have been a cool knife IF the weight was a LOT less ... I know it was a copy of the Benchmade 940 .... BUT , weight was a deterring factor .... Even the cheap clone / knock-offs are a good option to this .....

Is it really assisted?

The Bad: 1) The flipper tap is small and sharp, so it hurts to use. To make matters worse the amount of force required to even start motion is very high. 2) This "assisted" takes more effort to open than a non assisted flipper knives. On top of that it makes a grind noise when opening and closing. 3) The frame lock has a sharp edge and is uncomfortable to disengage. The Good: 1) I love the look, I have a few Ken Onion designs and this one is my favorite. 2) It feels solid and high quality in the hand. 3) The frame lock is strong. Summary: As long as you don't need to open OR close this knife, you will be happy. I guess its a sexy paper weight.

A second review

I left a good review and it was very good until the assisted function ceased. When i took apart the knife (which actually broke a screw bit head and I had to order new bits because of the overly torqued screws) the assisted arm has sheared off. I took out the broken bit and its a regular flipper now, althought with no detent to hold it shut. Never again, dont trust the assisted open. I had this knife maybe a month and the arm couldnt handle me fidgetting it for a couple minutes a day. Still usable and can be flicked open althought thats not the original function so pfffttt
