Very nice knife
This is a very nice knife. The lightweight handle is textured enough that even with wet and dirty hands you can still control the knife. It is a little bigger than I had expected but still carries well in the pocket. The knife arrived razor sharp and keeps its edge well. This is an excellent tool for both everyday use and as a self defense tool in trained hands.

I work in a Metal Fabrication shop and this knife has just chewed up everything I've thrown at it! I just sharpen it at the end of the week and it's back chewing up material on Monday! I might not like s35vn all that much but I dare you to find a better knife for the price. It can go from deburring metal to spreading mayonnaise on your sandwich in a heartbeat! I love the was the handle just melts into your hand like butter. This knife has the best ergonomics of a knife handle I have ever used. I may get a clip point version but as soon as I got comfortable with this tanto it has been my go to knife just beating out every other knife I own! You won't find a better knife for the price! I love Cold Steel!

This in my second knife of this model and after losing my first one, I feel complete again with this one. It's a everyday tool and has been a savior of a number of adventures. Can't wait to have this knife save me from total adventure fails. Knife is VERY sharp.

This is a large folder. Wide handle, wide blade. Sharp out of the box but not razor sharp. No play in the blade and a solid lockup. If you're holding it with any grip at all the stippling on the handle will NOT let it slip out of your hand. After the usual adjusting of the belt clip that holds like a vice grip, the only negative I can think of it the stippling under the belt clip. Completely unnecessary, even if you remove the clip, and as rough as 80 grit sand paper. Clip this bad boy in your pocket a few times and you won't have a pocket to clip it to.

Either you like Cold Steel's knife philosophy or you don't. I happen to love bigger knives with solid locks, and this knife is that. Beautiful blade, excellent-feeling handle, easy one-handed opening. You can close it one-handed, too, if you let gravity or a surface such as your side help. I'm adding a couple aftermarket parts to it, and one of those is a pocket clip, because this one sucks. Unfortunately no one knife was exactly what I wanted, but because of the popularity of this brand and model it's not hard to find parts, and the price for the quality of materials in this knife is quite reasonable.

The Recon 1 Tanto sits in one of those rare places where encompassing EDC folders and large tactical / survival knife’s. The blade geometry allows a fair amount of precision cutting for a knife that looks so brutal. It excels at essentially becoming a 4” weapon. I don’t use knives for combat anymore but this beast carries a 10-25% fear factor to anyone around due to its looks and obvious functionality. The blade deploys well and locks so securely it becomes a fixed blade. It’s very sharp on both edges and the points are beautiful. The Recon 1 can easily be the only knife you need to carry for moderate to heavy duty work. I wouldn’t clean my fingernails with it for fear of digit damage. The blade is heavy and strong for batoning and the grind works well for me. I really wanted one of these with any blade profile. I was impressed immediately by the sheer functionality of this knife and knowing it can punch through a car roof is very cool but really not something I’d ever do. The only downside is the locking mechanism release. It takes serious thumb pressure to unlock with demonstrated its security but needs a fair amount of play time to loosen up. A lot of knife for a great price and I put it up there with the SRK-C and SOG Seal pup for main larger knife carry but in a pocket- nice!!!!

I have been a fan of Cold steel knives for more than a decade and this is the first time i can say that this knife was not what i expected. The out of box sharpness was ok but not the hair popping razor sharp you would expect. The second and most disappointing is that the blade has a small amount of front and back play. There is no way to adjust it and its probably a problem of the stop pin. the lockup is solid.
