This in my second knife of this model and after losing my first one, I feel complete again with this one. It's a everyday tool and has been a savior of a number of adventures. Can't wait to have this knife save me from total adventure fails.Knife is VERY sharp.

The Recon 1 Tanto sits in one of those rare places where encompassing EDC folders and large tactical / survival knife’s. The blade geometry allows a fair amount of precision cutting for a knife that looks so brutal. It excels at essentially becoming a 4” weapon. I don’t use knives for combat anymore but this beast carries a 10-25% fear factor to anyone around due to its looks and obvious functionality. The blade deploys well and locks so securely it becomes a fixed blade. It’s very sharp on both edges and the points are beautiful. The Recon 1 can easily be the only knife you need to carry for moderate to heavy duty work. I wouldn’t clean my fingernails with it for fear of digit damage. The blade is heavy and strong for batoning and the grind works well for me. I really wanted one of these with any blade profile. I was impressed immediately by the sheer functionality of this knife and knowing it can punch through a car roof is very cool but really not something I’d ever do. The only downside is the locking mechanism release. It takes serious thumb pressure to unlock with demonstrated its security but needs a fair amount of play time to loosen up. A lot of knife for a great price and I put it up there with the SRK-C and SOG Seal pup for main larger knife carry but in a pocket- nice!!!!

I work in a Metal Fabrication shop and this knife has just chewed up everything I've thrown at it! I just sharpen it at the end of the week and it's back chewing up material on Monday! I might not like s35vn all that much but I dare you to find a better knife for the price. It can go from deburring metal to spreading mayonnaise on your sandwich in a heartbeat! I love the was the handle just melts into your hand like butter. This knife has the best ergonomics of a knife handle I have ever used. I may get a clip point version but as soon as I got comfortable with this tanto it has been my go to knife just beating out every other knife I own! You won't find a better knife for the price! I love Cold Steel!
