In one word... WOW!
So, yes... My opening the box and first handling this knife, my immediate thought was WOW! Size wise, this compares to the now discontinued Cold Steel 'Safe Keeper 2'. Of course the Safe Keepers had a Kraton material covered handle, where this Drop Forged model is simply all one piece of steel, having no separate material used in any way on the entire knife. That said, the handle portion has nicely rounded edges, and still has a nice feel in hand. It is also thinner in it's handle than the Safe Keeper because of it's lack of handle scales or kraton covering, and therefore flatter overall for more stealthy concealment. The thickness of it's blade screams out pure beast, and while nothing is indestructible, this knife is as close to that as I have ever seen on a knife. That also means that it's heft is more than twice that of the 'Safe Keeper', which to some folks may be a major negative. To other folks, it may be a major positive, as it's obviously makes it a tougher beast. The dark grayish colored finish is smooth, and it lets one see how well the steel has all been milled, simply nice work. The sheath seems to be made of the same glass filled plastic that other current Cold Steel knives come with. It seems well enough made; but it's the knife itself that gave me the "WOW" impression. It's sharpness was great right from the box, and was visually as perfectly done as the rest of the knife. Handling it, feeling it's robust weight, (almost half a pound), and seeing that beastly thickness of it's blade... Yup, it has some WOW factor going on :)
