It's so money you don't even know it
I do a lot of snowmobiling in south west Wyoming and always find myself in some nasty spots. This does a great job of clearing brush quickly and the saw does a good job too. The blade doesn't come very sharp but still works well.

Great Machete ( review from field experience)
Went to a large Military Simulation game this past weekend and had the luck of this machete, a friends not mine personally. The knife was well enough balanced and has a good secure grip with a good feel, even on bare hands. The blade was sharp ( he sharpened it ) and held its edge through cutting branches up to 6" ( not using the saw blade ) The saw blade was also very sharp, cut through rapidly with little force. I used this to clear an area of dead trees for firewood (loped off 1-2" diameter branches in 1 swing ) For the thicker stuff, i would cut a V pattern (like with an axe) While at camp i used it to start our fire Worked great for creating a tinder bundle. Took and held a log in my lap, and ran the machete down the wood with the blade to create paper thin hairlike shavings. Then used it like a hatchet to split our large pre cut wood into smaller chunks to feed the fire to proper size Once the fire was going, i kept it going by taking the large branches i had gotten, and sawing them into proper length with the saw blade. Worked like a charm. Over all this was a great machete, especially for the price and quality. All the activities i did above, it preformed very well without a single hiccup The only halfway con would be the sheath. I really liked it, its of solid build materials and quality. It just seemed a little weak where the belt loop was concerned. If it where mine, i would prefer a more rigid plastic lined nylon (like on MOLLE webbing)

Good Worker (for the right material)
I bought this model to use for home defense as well as for clearing non-wood brush from my home/campsite/etc....It is light in weight, and I like that. Combined with my Glock folding shovel, Glock battle knife and this machete, I feel I have the ultimate car/truck kit, in case I am ever stuck or broke-down in the middle of nowhere. I feel the construction of this machete lends itself to light work, and except for the saw spine, I will not be using it on wood, any thicker than 1/2 inch. I have not cut anything with it yet, but the blade seems very sharp, and the tines of the saw seem more than adequate for their intended purpose.

It has a role
Have given it light duty use camping and clearing brush; backpacking. The thin blade and construction make it light and packable but also limit it's capacity. Hard strikes on hard wood or at an angle could trash the blade. But the thin blade means the saw is useful, particularly if you carefully sharpen the teeth with a small file. And if you use the blade skillfully it can cut reasonably well. I always sharpen before first use. Steel seems medium hard. Best to have a small file or lap in the field for touchups. The sheath is adequate for purpose but a bit bulky. Kydex would be nice. Overall, it fills a niche for a light duty, compact, brush and light wood cutter.

No.
Wanted to use it for clearing out bushes, but found it unusefull in many ways. The blade is too thin, and the whole instrument is too lightweight and poorly balanced. There is no natural stability when chopping things thicker than an inch, and it's hard to get that "bite" feeling. It's also hard to find the propper grip on the handle, my hand just doesn't find the natural position to rest in. Sheath also feels a bit too bulky, and the "saw" was pretty much much ado about nothing. Judging from so many other Gerbers I own I know they can do much better, so this "machete" felt more like a prop than a real tool. Make the blade real dull, and the kids can have it to play zombie hunters in the woods :-/
