Great Machete ( review from field experience)
Went to a large Military Simulation game this past weekend and had the luck of this machete, a friends not mine personally. The knife was well enough balanced and has a good secure grip with a good feel, even on bare hands. The blade was sharp ( he sharpened it ) and held its edge through cutting branches up to 6" ( not using the saw blade ) The saw blade was also very sharp, cut through rapidly with little force. I used this to clear an area of dead trees for firewood (loped off 1-2" diameter branches in 1 swing ) For the thicker stuff, i would cut a V pattern (like with an axe) While at camp i used it to start our fire Worked great for creating a tinder bundle. Took and held a log in my lap, and ran the machete down the wood with the blade to create paper thin hairlike shavings. Then used it like a hatchet to split our large pre cut wood into smaller chunks to feed the fire to proper size Once the fire was going, i kept it going by taking the large branches i had gotten, and sawing them into proper length with the saw blade. Worked like a charm. Over all this was a great machete, especially for the price and quality. All the activities i did above, it preformed very well without a single hiccup The only halfway con would be the sheath. I really liked it, its of solid build materials and quality. It just seemed a little weak where the belt loop was concerned. If it where mine, i would prefer a more rigid plastic lined nylon (like on MOLLE webbing)
