Another Ka-Bar great

Ka-Bar is one of my favorites and this doesn't disappoint. One solid piece, with great weight and balance.

Awesome knife

This is the best kbar yet for a carry knife. I love the standard usmc kbar but I fell in love with this knife. Comfortable, non slip, super tough, etc. You will not regret buying this one.

Niiiice!

For any knife that I buy which has removable components (screws, handle scales, etc..) I Take them apart to see the real makeup of the body. Heavy duty Allen screws, thick blade stock with reinforced skeletonized construction where the scale hardware goes through. This knife wasn't just built for protection, but for durability, I'm impressed. Holding it in my hand, it just feels right. I've sustained many hand injuries in my younger years so a proper feeling handle is a must. With the thumb or forefinger over the thumb scales places on the spine you won't have any trouble losing control for whatever adventure heads your way. It came from the factory "Ka Bar" sharp. But I can't leave well enough alone and had to use some diamond and sapphire materials and make it "Bob" sharp. After treating it with rust inhibitor and putting it together, VOILA! Nice little setup. In comparison with the other TDI I carry at work, I know this one's on me at all times. The small TDI is more low profile and more comfortable to wear. You KNOW, when you have this one on you, or have it in your hand. That can be worked with. My only issue, a small one, is the placement in the sheath. It's held in with a thumb-activated (or lower palm with some practice) catch. The blade fits loosely inside and has that ever-aggravating *rattle*. Once again, that can be worked with, but not worth taking any grades off the official rating. If you already own one of the smaller TDI blades, and care to step up a notch, take this one in mind. You're either going to love it, or not care for it. But it's number 1 for me when I go out running and doing errands around town. Another "Well done, Ka Bar". Built for purpose, not beauty. How a knife should be.

good EDC

Holster and belt clip make for a nice fit. The handle is also smaller than the tdi 1480, which does not come with a belt clip. In comparison to the 1480, it seems more versatile in that it is more of a stabbing knife where as the angle of the 1480 leads to easier slashing but difficult stabbing at certain angles. The width of the blade is also smaller than the 1480. Way more comfortable to carry, plus the holster has a level of retention. The 1480, however, feels better in the hand. But for an EDC, the hellfire makes for a better fit. This also needed some sharpening out of the box. I used a fine Norton India block which did the job

excellent ergonomics

I was afraid this knife could be too long for daily use but the size is perfect, both the blade and handle. The curve grind makes it a little more difficult for maintenance but it is not impossible to keep its edge on a strope. The sheath rattles a little but I like the release mechanism.

A Collaboration like BP

I'm not a big fixed blade guy but for right around $100, Ka-Bar and Hinderer did something right. The knife has a solid weight and the handle has a good grippy texture. Feels great in hand with the finger contouring. The curved spine with jimping is perfect. It looks great all blacked out with a cool blade shape. Nice fit and finish. Feels like something you could beat up and it will still keep on ticking. Like others, surprised with how NOT sharp it is. The sheath is very functional with belt clip and lock in feature. Unlocks easily with thumb for quick draw.

Not perfect

Fit and finish are good, design and sheath are top notch. Blade arrived surprisingly dull. VERY unlike Kabar.
