As an every day carry knife this is the ticket. The wide blade and slender handle fit me well. This has quickly taken its place as my every day knife. The blade takes and holds an excellent edge. It has met and exceeded every task I have asked of it. Hats off to Kershaw.
This is an exciting way to try out a Diskin blade profile at an offshore price. Like every example I own from Kershaw/Kai the blade is sharp and centered. The tool feels lively in hand and has a lot of belly to cut with. If you can get past the offshore manufacturing (clearly I can) this is a well priced tool which will undoubtedly provide years of service. As always Knife Center has come through with their customer service as well. The knife itself is great and I hope Kershaw collaborates with Mr. Diskin on some higher end models as well. Thanks for reading.
This is a solid, quality knife. Some may complain about the weight, but it is a good, solid confidence inspiring feel. The blade lock is a heavy frame lock, rather than a lighter liner lock. The ball bearing flipper is silky smooth and I love the broad, heavy blade! Only minor complaint is the plastic on the handle is a little slippery. Maybe I will just touch them with some fine sandpaper.
Great quality for such a small knife. I was surprised I had to sharpen it. Now it cuts perfectly. and the blade shape is just marvellous. Too bad they didn't keep the G10 handle which was on the "prototype" version. Go for it!
I received this one for Christmas, i use it for every day tasks, it came really sharp the opening is smooth and the lock is strong with no blade play even though the steel is not the very best it's sufficient and at this price point it's really good Pocket clip though is not lefty friendly
EDC along with several others. Had a sharp corner on the handle material next next to the lock. The knife feels good in the hand, I like the way it opens better than most assisted knife I own, and it looks good.
The value of the knife is in the blade and the opening mechanics. The blade shape is excellent, has a large belly and a pointy tip, and a great stone wash finish. Mine came sharp enough to roughly push cut paper. After touching it up with my sharpmaker fine stones it was hair shaving sharp. The shape of the handle is very ergonomic and the deployment is buttery smooth. Real comfortable in pocket and hand. I like that the scale covers the framelock lockbar. This prevents my thumb (as a lefty) from applying positive pressure on the lockbar when i'm trying to deploy the blade. The weak points of the knife are the plastic material of the K scales. They're just cheap feeling and ugly, but function alright. Luckily if you are inclined to do so these can be removed entirely without changing the function of the knife, or they can be replaced rather easily and inexpensively by 3rd party scale makers. Search online and you should come up with some options. My biggest peeve is the clip. The end of the clip flairs our pretty far and is easily snagged. Also, if you're a lefty like me, you may have a hard time swapping the clip from one side to the other. The clip itself and the opposite spacer shim were hard to remove from the frame. They're just seated real tight. Then trying to reinsert them back into the frame was just as hard. One thing to note, the clip on mine came black and not stonewashed like shown in the picture here. After adding carbon fiber scales to mine I really like this knife. I carry it more often than my delica 4. The steel is not as good, but the action is better and it feels a little more sleek in pocket.
This is a heavy beast of a knife, I would have carried it, and might have gotten a better review but the pocket clip makes it almost impossible to carry clipped to the pocket. There isn't enough room between the clip and handle to clip to anything thicker than 2mm. The ergos are great and blade action is also great.
I need to sharpen this knife. Quite disappointed with the factory edge since this is intended for edc, opening boxes ,and cutting warehouse stuffs. Other features are alright considering the price.
I must agree with Silvertip-looks good on line but a little off in person-wouldn't have bought it if handled in store-thin but cold steel heavy handle, weird plasticy scales, nothing elegant-I'll put in toolbox or give away...
I am afraid that I must refer to this as a dog of a knife. Knowing full well that you get what you pay for, and this is not an expensive knife- but this is one unimpressive beast. Heavy and lumbering- something that you might reach for when wanting to punch open a can of beans in an emergency. Movement is acceptable, but uninspiring. The finish on the knife, which looked good in the image, is dull and boring. And I would have to work hard to cut myself with the factory edge- it is almost non existent. I'd suggest you stay away from this one.
