Excellent RAT's

I'm not a fan of all rats but I am a fan of the Ontario RATs. I've had this one for a while and love it. I bought another one in a dark green handle and love it (using one for work and the other for home EDC), currently ordering one with a black handle. I've gotten the RAT 1 and the RAT 3 fixed blade. These D2 steel are fantastic. After purchasing this Tan RAT 2 I bought variety of other knives in the D2. No complaints with any of them. These RATs are good solid knives, great feel, sharp. I'm looking at the coyote brown handle RAT 2. Lol. I'm also liking the hiking knife Ontario currently has in the black/brown Micarta handle. To sum this up I'm happy with D2 steel and happy with Ontario.

Neat little knife

I have owned a rat 1 for over a year now and finally got around to buying the R2D2. This knife will be in my edc rotation. I have size large hands and the model 2 still fits comfortably. The angle on the thumb studs isn't as optimal as on the model 1 but it's not bad and the action is very good. The workmanship is good and the blade came very sharp. I wish Ontario would also offer a slightly upgraded version with G10 scales and a blade steel like 14c28n or VG10. Not that D2 is bad but it's a little harder to sharpen. The RATs are such a nice design Ontario should expand its appeal a bit. As it is this is a very nice knife with a good blade shape and a nice action.

Solid edc

I bought this as a back up for an aus8 model I have... The aus8 is now the back up. Incredibly sharp, very easy to open, sits in your pocket nice and snug. The action is awesome, with a slight flicking your thumb the knife comes flying out. I think this is one of the best EDC is I have due to the ease of carrying it and the price point. I will more than likely pick up two or three more. If you're on the fence, jump off, you will not be upset with your purchase.

The best folder at this price I’ve ever seen

I needed an new EDC knife and wow does this fit. Great fit and finish. Opens fast and locks firm. Great ergonomics and in D2 , wicked sharp right out of the box I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and it doesn’t need sharpening yet. This is a great knife for the money even at full price, at this price it’s a steal. I’ve owned hundreds of folders and this is one of my favs.

Great minimalist, hard-use, 3" folder.

This exceeded my expectations, and is taking the place of a Spy---co Nat-ve 5 Lightweight (S30V) in my small collection. The Rat 2 in D2 is less than 1/2 the price of the other knife, and is more robust with the metal internals. The desert tan is even better looking in real life--it has less of an orange tint than in the photo, and the contrast with the black clip is sharp. The action is smooth and the lockup is tight. It even has a sharpening choil, something even far more expensive knives lack. It was razor sharp out of the box. Don't know whether D2 is hard to sharpen like many say, but even if it was my opinion of the knife wouldn't change. I plan to use this knife while hunting and for other outdoor pursuits.

Best EDC

This is one of the first knives I looked at when I got back into knives. I bought a number of other knives, some of them pretty good. But the Desert Tan in D2?! Forget About It! This is the highest quality and best value. My new favorite EDC.

Great work knife

I've been using this at work for the last few weeks and love it. I didn't like the color but in person it's great, especially with a new black cerakote clip. I use it to cut roots, plastic, corrugated pvc, and other water industry materials. The QC is good and the action, size, and blade are as good as I was hoping. Would definitely purchase again.
