Small, sharp & very useful.

I bought my first Opinel 50 yrs ago and it has been to Africa 3 times where it was very useful cutting duct tape,slabs of meat, rope etc. Bought this one because it looked different and colourful. Out of the box it's very sharp and the serrated section is used for packaging and other small jobs. It even has a LOUD whistle in the handle for what I don't know. All the products I've bought from Knife Centre have been sent pronto and the communication with them is first class. Opinel knives are simple in design and very useful.

I was one of the first in Europe to have this knife and all I can say is that is excellent.Easy to open but not the easiest on market,very lightweight you barely know is in your hand, twist the lock ring and is like having a fixed blade, keep the edge very well( not like modern "supersteel"), cut very well (specially rope) and moderately priced for overall quality which is, IMHO, excellent.The whistle is very loud! No cons at all!Very cool colours easy to find when you lose it( I dont know how many knives I lost in outdoor, even some expensive ones)

Amazing outdoor knife

This knife is amazing for the outdoors. The blade comes very sharp out of the box. It does not have serrations on the blade, it is actually a very sharp saw. It is good for whittling, carving, and even EDC. The whistle is great and loud. This is an all around great knife

It is definitely unique

The best word I can think of for this knife (because I am a knife geek) is "interesting." The Opinel locking ring system is definitely not a one-handed affair, though it has held up better than I expected after some abuse. As with other Opinel knives, the blade deployment is sticky and obviously designed that way to keep it from loosening during use, but since it isn't a one-hander the stickiness isn't a problem. The whistle is pretty loud. I am not wild about the blade, and haven't had much success getting it more than working sharp, but it works well enough for around-the-house kinds of jobs. Opinel knives are quite unusual. Any decent knife collection needs one.

Not thrilled with the rotating locking system, it's not as stable or user friendly as I had hoped it would be. I liked the idea of the handle having additional uses, ( the whistle )
