Opinel

The Opinel folders are classic, no-nonsense pocket knives that just work. These N08 Outdoor models are more functional, better looking, and have more cutting power than any of their predecessors. Extremely well-made folders feature upgrades to the handle with high-tech with space-age materials. These heavy-duty survival knives feature 2.5 mm thick 12C27 Sandvik blades, sharp serrated areas for cutting fibrous material, and integrated four seasons 110-decibel survival whistles and a shackle key. The handle features a non-slip area (colored area) and can resist extreme temperatures (-40 °C to +80°C). The Opinel N08 is the most versatile size in the ever-growing line of folding knives. This knife is small enough to be used as a pocket knife and its 3.75" blade is large enough for most cutting tasks. Made in France.

Safety

  • This knife features the Virobloc Safety ring. The Virobloc safety ring was invented and implemented in 1955. This simple yet effective locking system greatly improved the original knife.The ability to help prevent the blade from opening when closed was added to the Virobloc in 2000.

Amazing outdoor knife
This knife is amazing for the outdoors. The blade comes very sharp out of the box. It does not have serrations on the blade, it is actually a very sharp saw. It is good for whittling, carving, and even EDC. The whistle is great and loud. This is an all around great knife

It is definitely unique
The best word I can think of for this knife (because I am a knife geek) is "interesting." The Opinel locking ring system is definitely not a one-handed affair, though it has held up better than I expected after some abuse. As with other Opinel knives, the blade deployment is sticky and obviously designed that way to keep it from loosening during use, but since it isn't a one-hander the stickiness isn't a problem. The whistle is pretty loud.I am not wild about the blade, and haven't had much success getting it more than working sharp, but it works well enough for around-the-house kinds of jobs.Opinel knives are quite unusual. Any decent knife collection needs one.

Small, sharp & very useful.
I bought my first Opinel 50 yrs ago and it has been to Africa 3 times where it was very useful cutting duct tape,slabs of meat, rope etc. Bought this one because it looked different and colourful. Out of the box it's very sharp and the serrated section is used for packaging and other small jobs. It even has a LOUD whistle in the handle for what I don't know. All the products I've bought from Knife Centre have been sent pronto and the communication with them is first class. Opinel knives are simple in design and very useful.
