Excellent Knife

As with the rest of their knives, the CM-6 is an outstanding value. Comfortable to hold and use, with a very versatile blade shape. I tend to look at the CM-6 as a direct competitor to the KaBar USMC fighting knife, as I believe it was designed to accomplish the same tasks: general use for camp chores, along with the ability to be an effective fighting knife. The CM-6 does it better.

I *Like* the Slim Handle Scales

The slim handle makes the knife more nimble, a desirable feature for a combat knife. I've grown frustrated with blocky handles, to be honest. A large hand can adjust to a slim handle, but a small hand cannot adjust to a fat one. I think that ESEE hit this one out of the park.

Found IT!

I had been looking for "a better KaBar" since the 1970s and had tried many knives and brands over the years. I found what I was looking for - though I gave up a hammer pommel [which I did use] or a lanyard hole. I found what I'd been looking for with the Esee CM6! This concluded about a 45 year search! I did install Knife Connection [TKC] grips. BUT, I was extremely impressed with how surprisingly well the factory stock grips worked in many grips. The replacements are also excellent, giving a slight increase in purchase. HOWEVER, I would recommend working with the flat grips for a while before making any mods. Not that I need a combat knife these days, but it is the principle of the long search... The KnifeCenter folks ALSO went beyond their duty on this one as I had screwed up the order on a non knife issue... again. They straightened all out quickly. Having also used all types of sheaths over the years, If I was carrying it for it's designed, I'd get an old style leather sheath... if properly done/treated they are still more quiet to use and align rightly if on the belt. Though the factory model can be used in many ways and would be excellent for most people/uses.

Great knife

Excellent blade from ESEE. I just received Serial # 0020, I was surprised at how thin the handles were, but I like it. This blade really needs some jimping. That's the only reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating.

Very disapointing

For me,,,The handle scales are just too thin for a knife of this size and weight. They should have used the scale thickness on the E6. The knife does not hold well if you have larger hands on up, it gets lost in your hand and feels insecure. Well made in all other ways, if it fits you a great value. Thicker scales as on the E6, still my top pick, wouild make this a great knife by my standards. If you like thinner handles it may work well for you, great blade design, fit and finish are excellent. The Esse knives are a truly unique and excellent value. You may want a custom sheath. Stay sharp. Acid
